Double Barrel Surname Signature.

Lianne, 27 August, 2024 at 08:24 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 1 2
Hi all, my fiancé and I have decided to double barrel our surnames once we get married to keep my family name going as I’m the only child. I’m struggling to form a signature because it’s quite a long double barrel (Cooksley-Weatherill) so any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

Signatures don't have to show the name clearly - they just have to be consistently the same. I've seen a lot of signatures where the name has been just a long squiggle with maybe just one or two letters recognisable, so I wouldn't overthink it - just keep practising until you find something that feels comfortable. Bear in mind you'll hopefully be signing it for a very long time to come, so you don't want anything too 'careful' as it's going to take a very, very long time to do!
