Beginner February 2023 Dumfries Galloway & Ayrshire

Dream Venue but…

Aimee, 15 April, 2022 at 10:53 Posted on Planning 0 1
My fiancé and I got engaged in February and have started looking at wedding venues for February 2023.

We’re in the West of Scotland and keeping the wedding local is important to us. We’ve visited 5 local venues and have two in mind- one is a modern hotel that is all round cheaper and we visited that first. We liked it because it was modern, reasonably priced and is in a good location. However, the last venue we saw was absolutely beautiful and we both loved it! It’s near the town I grew up in and it’s on a beautiful estate owned by Prince Charles.
The issue is, the town it is near is a bit further away for some guests and as it’s an estate perhaps isn’t as convenient to get to. Another thing is the on-site accommodation is expensive (£180) but there are cheaper alternatives less than 10mins away. We wanted an intimate wedding of 30 with a larger guest list at night, about 120. I suppose my worry is people won’t come or will grumble at price/inconvenience. We did think it would be a cool experience but I completely understand, having been to a few weddings myself, that sometimes it’s a bit much.
Any advice would be appreciated as I have considered putting on transport but don’t even know where to beginning judging how many people would need it!! Thanks

You could look at quotes for a bus for your evening guests, if you are feeling generous.

We are offering a minibus back to the nearest town at the end of the reception. We put a question on the RSVP on our website to get numbers, but we had a rough idea already.
