Dream venue lack communication 😩

Emma, 15 November, 2023 at 19:53 Posted on Planning 0 5
We have found an absolute dream of a venue!
It ticks every box but is borderline dry hire in that we would need to hire caterers and tables etc but the bar is already there.
We’ve been to visit and emailed them to say we’d love to book. This was about 2 weeks ago, I’ve followed up on email, called and then popped in to see them in person and yet still not had a call back to confirm our booking.
The date isn’t until 2025 but just want to get it booked so we can sort the rest at a later date.
Are we fighting a losing battle here? Should we look for another venue? It’s so disheartening that we’re facing this at the 1st hurdle!

Have they given you a reason for the delay when you called/visited? Unless they have a good one, I would be getting worried about their communication going forwards.

    Nope, nothing via email/phone.
They have a big renovation job in January but no other reason that I’m aware of.
That would be fab if they had a reason and just said, hey the dates pencilled in, we’re at a busy time with the work going on, let’s put a date in the diary for post renovation to have a chat and go through things. Just the total zero comms is so disheartening.
You’re spot on though, it had crossed my mind about comms in the future ☹️

For your own peace of mind, you might want to look elsewhere. It's difficult to get anything else booked until you have the venue sorted, and you don't want to miss out on the photographer, florist or caterer that you want because you can't confirm your venue! As you say, even if they are too busy to have a proper meeting conversation right now, it only takes a minute to write an email confirming a provisional booking and giving a suggested date for sorting out details.

We also had this problem with a venue we loved! Went and had a look around and loved it, we got back to them straight away and said we would like to book and nothing.. in the end we looked elsewhere and to be honest it’s worked out for the better as the venue we’ve ended up going with is 1000% better! Communication is great and the venue is just beautiful, so if you don’t end up with that venue I’m sure you will find something even better 😁 good luck with it all x
