Dresses for shorter brides

Lea, 11 October, 2022 at 07:57 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 5

Hi,

Any tips or recommendations for dresses for shorter brides. I'm only 5ft tall. I would say I am apple shaped and currently size 16. Hoping to lose weight to get into a size 14 dress and be less apple shaped!

Thanks

I think a tea dress would be great for your shape and height. I had one and loved that I didnt have to pick it up and trapse around all day in it! here is mine, same size as you are now. Have a google of tea length wedding dresses

    Hi Charlotte,

You look beautiful in your dress, Looks very flattering on you. I already bought a dress from Phase Eight in the sale but it's about a foot too long. It's a sheath/column dress but I'm not sure it suits me. I will have a look at tea length dresses. Thank you.

Go for a tea length dress. I'm wear a 1950s dress with a petticoat I'm 5ft3. Also do not put pressure on the weigh loss I'm a size 14 to 16 and wedding dresses you have to size up I'm actually wearing black I'm not going for traditional white. My dress is from British retro and shorter which is perfect for my height.
Just try a few dresses on and I'm sure you will fall in love with one, remember our fiancés love our curves that's why they're marrying us lol. Good luck.

Another alternative to tea-length would be a-line which is flattering to pretty much any figure. I'd avoid anything too puffy or ballgowny since the width of the skirt will make you look shorter and wider.

Your best bet is to try on a few silhouettes and see what you feel good in. Or take another look at that dress you already bought - you might find that if it is taken up to the right length, you really like it.
