Drinks!

Amy, 17 March, 2024 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 4
Hey everyone,

We are getting married in July 2024, at the receptions we are having cans of beer and pimms! Both myself and my partner really dislike wine so we are trying to think of other options for the table?
Has anyone got some good ideas?
Thanks, Amy

There are loads of great non-alcoholic drinks available now - you could look at some of those, especially as an increasing number of people are choosing to avoid alcohol for health reasons.

Hello Amy!! How exciting we are getting married the same day! 😬😬 My fiance doesn’t like either and I do, but not big deal if it wasn’t available. As it’s summer how about a jug of your favourite cocktail? Mocktail? Some fruity ciders or a jug of water with some fruit inside? But on the other hand you don’t need anything for the table. It’s really up to you! ☺️

We aren’t wine people either & our venue were so accommodating on our swaps and it came out to the same amount as the wine package in the end.

For the cocktail reception, we did a his & hers cocktail, but we both chose our favourites so a Sex on the Beach & a French Martini. We also had a non-alcoholic raspberry lemonade in a highball glass with proper fruit in.
For the tables, we just did juices & water to be honest. Literally no-one even mentioned the lack of wine to me & getting hydrated on a hot day in July, was super important. For the toasting drinks, we did our speeches in 2 waves. For the first toasting drink we did a non-alcoholic apple spritz, served in a flute - looked like champagne & had a fancy dried apple circle for decoration. For the second toasting drink guests could choose between a kir royale or the apple spritz again.
We got a lot of compliments on our drinks choices, people loved the variety and lack of wine but I knew our crowd and what they liked to drink tbf. There was also a reasonably priced bar so people could order what they wanted as well.
Talk with your venue to see what they can do but what do you guys do when you go out with your friends and family? What kind of drinks are popular in your circles, and maybe go with that?

    What about cocktails or spitzers?
