Duac gel - anyone any experience?

Maldives2013, 10 April, 2014 at 16:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

Has anyone any experience with an acne gell called Duac? For the past few months I have been suffering really badly with my skin on my face, all mainly on one side as well. Anyway I've finally been to the doctors and he has perscribed me this gel. He said it may take three months to really show any results but i may experience very dry skin in the meantime... and told me not to get it on my eyebropws or clothes as it will bleach/ stain them!

I use it and really rate it. I do only put it on the actual spots not all over my face. It works within a few days when I have a breakout. It does dry your skin so I put it on at night before bed and use a good moisturiser in the morning. Aveda liquid exfoliator is awesome for removing any dry skin patches. Let us know how you get on.

Yep, really worked for me quite quickly if I remember rightly. I didn't have any problems with staining, however H used it for his back and there us now a rather large bleached patch on our sheets!!

Ah great thanks everyone. I tried it last night for the first time, and my face felt really tight! No staining on the pillow though this morning! Well fingers crossed it works, I am on Yasmin already and always have been, it’s meant to be the best pill for acne so God knows what my face would be like if I stopped taking that!

I’ve put loads of moisturiser on this morning so hopefully should be ok. If the cream doesn’t work the next thing is three months of antibiotics!

    Hi Flora,

sorry, Yasmin is the best one that the doctor would perscribe for me, he was hesitant to change me to dianette as I did mention it after doing some research myself. He said it carries a higher risk (albeit it it's still minimal!) of blood clotting. I think though if the gel doesn'work that will be something i will push for next time, especially if you say it worked for you.
