eBay Wedding Dress

Tams90, 31 August, 2014 at 15:23 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has ever bought a wedding dress off eBay?
I bought my dress online from a more well known site a few months ago, don't get me wrong it's beautiful, but I think I jumped the gun and ordered it too soon and now am not so keen on it. I've looked at loads of dresses on eBay but scared to buy one incase it isn't what it says it is. The ones I've been looking at I've been looking at sellers feedback and there mostly good, but still a little unsure.
We don't have a massive budget wedding and I've rather spend money towards the venue than spending hundreds of pounds on a dress, so I only actually have about £200 to spend, and I just can't find anything in shops that I like that suits my budget.
Has anyone on here ever bought an eBay dress and what was the outcome?

My cousing bought her dress from Ebay, but it was a second hand one from an actual bride rather than a 'shop', her dress was stunning and looked brand new

Ive bought lots of second hand ones off eBay...

some are lovely (1 is beach style and gorgeous, brand new too)

1 had a huge stain down the front (used as a halloween costume as it looked like blood lol)

    1 had diamantes missing

but most are just standard but may need a wash

I got my dress from a closing down sale (half price- bargain!) but I've heard horror stories about cheap wedding dresses from sellers online in china/hong kong, etc.

I would agree with charlinc above and say go for a 'preloved' dress from an actual bride. Then you can be more certain of the quality, and might get a designer bargain!

Just a thought- Oxfam have bridal shops don't they? If there is one near you that might be worth a try?

I would try pre loved or second hand wedding sites were you can put in your address and go look at the dresses before you buy

I stumbled upon this seller on Ebay a couple of days ago - http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/sarah-kate-bridal?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

I found a dress that I absolutely love, got goose bumps just looking at the picture, it's my exact measurements & is 100% 'The One', so I bought it for £149. They are mostly samples & have never left the shop, the seller has perfect feedback & beautiful dresses.

Mine is being delivered to MIL house in Wales on Wednesday or Thursday, but I won't be there until next week to have a look & try it on. But I have no doubts what so ever.

I originally went for a Chinese seller on eBay for my dress, to cut a long story short although the seller had 99% good feedback the dress was of very poor quality. I did get my money back but I had to spend £30 on returning the dress to China. My advise would be to go for 'pre-loved' x

My dress was £175 from ebay, and is perfect, but it is a handfasting dress not a wedding dress.

my dress for my first wedding was also from ebay, for about £200, it was essence of Australia and still had the £1000 price tag on it! Just need to be careful with which sellers you use but there are some great bargains to be had.

Ive heard so many stories like this unfortunately. I think that if you go in with a positive attitude & are willing to risk the cost of the dress or the postage to send it back then go for it but if you aren't happy with taking a financial risk I'd avoid as you just don't know what you're going to get.

I bought mine from eBay, it's a shop sample so basically new with tags & just cost me £56! Original tags state £980!

and it's exactly what I had in my head for what I wanted... Haven't saw any others that come close to it!

Get all the measurements from the seller & even check out the designers website for sizing details. The label on mine states 14 but the measurements are more like a 10...
