Eeeek! Bridal shop in administration.

The shop I have ordered my dress from (and paid a 50% deposit to) has gone into adminsitration! I am assured that the designer has agreed with the shop/administrators to fulfill all existing orders ... so fingers crossed that there will be no problems ... but I'm kicking myself for having paid by cheque and not credit card, just in case!

So - a warning! In this econonomic climate, I'd suggest paying all major deposits for wedding things (venues, dresses, caterers etc) by credit card! I will be from now on!

    Eek. Have you any idea when your dress is due to arrive (ie how soon before the wedding)? Will you have time for a contingency plan if the worst comes to the worst?

    It's such a stress which I'm sure you don't need. Are you insured through your wedding insurance if you have it? I really wish you luck and hope the designer sticks to her word!

    The shop is this one ... http://www.iconiclytham.co.uk/ and the adminsitrators do say on the website that theyare trying to confirm all orders individually with suppliers. The designer is Charlotte Balbier (Ulkrika), and I am planning to give them a ring next week just to check. The person who called me (from the shop) did definately say the designer had confirmed my order would be fulfilled. I think the dress was due to come in some time around January ... wedding not til end of May ... so not panicking.

    Thanks Milna, hope you get your dress sorted. I remember you looking for that Charlotte Balbier dress now. Is it the lace one? It#s good that they called you. So many shops just go.

    Ooh milna i remember your dress (goooorgeous). glad they have confirmed the order will be honoured. have you got wedding insurance? hope everything goes through ok.

    Yes - its the lace one! And I tried so many shops before finding one that actually stocked any Charlotte Balbier dresses at all!
