Elopement vow renewal abroad

KiKi, 20 January, 2022 at 06:58 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 1
My husband and I have decided to celebrate 25 years together (17 married) by having a vow renewal. We don’t want the big, white wedding (been there, done that!) so want to sneak abroad (possibly Italy, although planning with a language barrier scares the life out of me) with just our two grown up children. We are struggling to find places that just do ceremonies that aren’t marriages when you don’t need a meal/overnight accommodation/all the extras for guests. How can I do a simple, intimate ceremony with some beautiful photos with a fabulous backdrop without spending the Earth or having a million tourists in my pictures?

Since it's just a vow renewal, you don't actually need a registered celebrant. Can you just book a hotel, B&B or self catering somewhere that you love and write your own vows (or get your children to officiate at a home-designed ceremony)? That way, you just need to find a good local photographer who does 'couple shoots'.

If it's stunning backdrops you want and you don't like the thought of the language barrier...can you afford New Zealand? It is the most incredible country and would make for a magical special holiday.

Or...if you're on a tight budget, how about Ireland? There are loads of beautiful locations, especially on the coast that would make for some incredible pictures.
