Eloping - planning a “happily ever after” party

Lucy, 21 November, 2022 at 21:30 Posted on Planning 0 1
Me and my partner are planning to elope in 2024.
However, I am stuck with the party for when we return home! It is something we both want to share with our families but have no idea how the timeline should go!
I’d love to wear my dress, but do we make a grand entrance? Or just be stood in the room when everyone starts to arrive at the party? I’d like a first dance as we probably won’t have one when we elope. We would also maybe like to share a 3-4 min video and pics from our wedding day along with a song playing. Do we do a seating plan? I would like my partner and his brother to do a speech also. Do we do day time? So we can have family photos? If anyone could share a timeline or any ideas how to structure the party I would really love your advice! I struggle with anxiety so feel I need a plan in place to organise this Rather than just a normal “party” feel. Thank you x

You can make it as formal or informal as you want to, so any of these things are ok. I've seen everything from what is basically a 'wedding' complete with a blessing or vow renewal, right through to just a meal with everyone in their best clothes.

If you suffer with anxiety though, I would keep things as simple as possible. The bigger the event, the more things you have to worry about! Think about what you would really like the day to look like, who you want there and what budget you are working to. Then go from there.
