Engagement ring damaged by wedding ring designer

GreenIvyRedBerries20, 14 of December of 2019 at 11:22 Posted on Planning 0 1

Having a nightmare and not sure what to do.

I have a very intricate enagement ring with a twisted band, it is extremely delicate, but I love it. I couldn't find a wedding ring anywhere that matched it so I have ended up paying to get one designed by a very reputable diamond and wedding ring specialist in South Wales.

After an initial issue with sizing they decided to size up my wedding and engagement ring free of charge. I returned today to find my wedding ring perfectly resized and it fit perfect. But my engagement ring was still to small. Upon further inspection I noticed that my wedding ring has 2 very subtle (but noticeable to the naked eye) holes in the metal on either side where the band twists due to the stretching process.

I am absolutely heartbroken, they have resized my engagement ring by stretching it, and didn't add any metal so they have deformed it and caused the metal to crack and create 2 holes. I have been reassured that they will resize it again with new metal and will fix the defects, but I'm worried that when I return to pick it up it will still be deformed and less than the perfect ring I gave them (it was immaculate).

Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? I am very dissapointed in the service I have recieved, but currently I'm more bothered about my engagement ring being permanently damaged - what do I do?

Since they've offered to repair the damage, I'd wait and see what happens once they have resized it with the new metal. Hopefully, it will be perfect by the next time you see it. I know it's really hard when it's something as personal as an engagement ring, but try not to worry.

Do you have insurance? If so I would definitely open a claim for your ring and perhaps look into legal advice with how to deal with the company - they clearly aren't that reputable if they made such an obvious mistake with the resizing of your ring. You should press for a refund or at least partial refund for the wedding ring for the emotional distress and damage they have caused. I hope you manage to get it sorted!
