engagement ring scratched?

missk1989, 5 October, 2013 at 08:40 Posted on Planning 0 9

I have only had y ring a month and its already sratched a little. I perhaps naively thought that white gold wouldnt get scratched so easily. Its not like i do any manual labour. Anyone else ring scratch?

My ring is platinum and yep it's scratched. I was really upset at first but then I figured there is no way to keep it looking perfect. With white gold you can have it dipped every now and again to keep it looking new.

It will, I'm afraid. Best thing to do is ask the people who are supplying your wedding bands if you can have it polished just before the wedding

to help keep a shine, you can brush it with a tiny blob of fairy liquid on a toothbrush; helps to keep surface shine, but won't do much for the scratches, I'm afraid

ovee time, the ring will soften to a more satin shine and you won't notice as much x

White gold is probably Rhodium plated, it will scratch but the good news is you can get it replated!

I am taking mine in about 3 weeks before the wedding to H Samuel, they will replate it for £30 which includes cleaning the diamonds and it takes a week.

This way it should look good as new with my wedding ring rather than dirty and discoloured!

Yep mine is 18ct white gold and it's scratched, and almost chipped or dented very slightly in two places? Don't know how that happened, I've only had it 5.5 months too! Unfortunately all metals show wear and tear, I'll get it dipped before the wedding so you could do that too.

Alot of companies will actually get your ring re-plated for free if you still have your reciept and its within 12 months.

Mine is from H Samuel and they state this on their website. Might be worth taking a look Smiley smile

I get married in May, but will have had my ring 12 months in Jan, so Im planning on getting it done just beforehand - might as well, its free!! Smiley smile

Oh I forgot to mention earlier, you can also get a good white gold jewellery cleaner on ebay, which will make your ring really shiny again!

I got some and its great Smiley smile made it look like new!
