Entrance music / religious content

Gill, 31 of October of 2023 at 21:07 Posted on Planning 1 2
I’m hoping to have the Kenna Child’s cover of Oceans as my entrance music at my civil ceremony, does anybody know if this will be deemed as too religious? Or has anyone had this song or had issues with the registrar regarding this song?

I'm sorry but I am fairly sure that it will not be allowed. But you can check with the registrars first.

I can't see any way the lyrics would get past the registrar, as they are very definitely Christian, not secular, e.g. "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders", and "my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Saviour".

An instrumental-only version might be acceptable. Alternatively, you could have the version you want with lyrics played as you come in to your reception?
