Essex Barn Wedding Venues

Hi everyone,

Please bear with me as I'm very newly engaged (November 2016) and am just starting out with my Wedding Planning, eeeekkkk! Ideally we'd like to hire a barn in Essex where we can do everything ourselves, hire caterers, do our own barn, bring in our own DJ, sort the tables ourselves etc. Does anyone know of anything like this in Essex at all? We live in Maldon so ideally somewhere around there. We're hoping to get married in a church near us so just looking for a reception venue. Currently looking at July/August 2018?

Plus, any other advice anyone has got I'd love to hear it!

    Congratulations!

    My SIL got married at this venue about 10yrs ago. I realise its not a barn, & I'm sure it has changed somewhat, but at that time, she took her own caters, florist, designers, DJ etc. They had beautiful grounds and a pond for photos. Might be worth a look if you cant find a barn closer to you.

    I had my heart set on the Old Brook Barn, but my dates would have been too soon to have any availability. It really is a breathtaking venue though - I would love to attend a wedding there!

    I think you made the right choice with Old Brook! We went with Mulberry House in the end as I really loved the Mulberry suite and they were really flexible with our dates & requirements, so we will hold the entire day there. It is also quite central for a lot of our guests so works out well! Gaynes Park is a stunning one too but my sister got married there so I wanted to be different Smiley smile

    Congratualtions. Though I would pop by and say hi. I got engaged last week (December 2016) and am looking for the same. Our date will look to be December 2018 though. Hope you don't mind me following your post.
