Morning Hitchers

I thought it might be a nice idea for any brides getting married in Essex to share any venue or supplier ideas or recommendations they may have and discuss all things Essex wedding in general Smiley smile

So talk to me about your wedding! Where's your venue? What are you researching at the moment? What else is going on?

I'm a Gosfield Hall bride getting married in September, with a huge to do list, currently on the lookout for my shoes and bridesmaid dresses...and meeting with florists at the weekend...

Omg got so excited when I saw this post. Getting married in Brentwood cathedral next august, and just this week we are trying to finalise a venue. After seeing about 20 we have narrowed it down to either-

    Friern manor

    Blake hall

    Down hall hotel or

    Ye olde plough house

All so different cant make up my mind, on second viewings now!!

This thread will be really good to get some info on reliable suppliers.

    Hi Shamy!

I'm an Essex bride, marrying at Down Hall on 1st November. I also live 5 mins from, and work 2 mins from Gosfield Hall!

Bridesmaid dresses are at the top of my to do list, oh and RSVPS... I'd like some of them!

Im getting married at The Old Rectory on 31st July. Eek. Still quite a lot to do. Bridesmaid shoes are a bloody nightmare to find and not the got the bouncy castle or garden games sorted yet. Bit worried now as my make up trial is not until June. Seemed like plenty of time but now I see everyone else has theirs far more in advance.

Oh what lovely venues you are considering! I had brochures for all of them but I finally recycled them over Easter. I absolutely loved Down Hall but we decided it was a little too far away for us. I'm 99% sure we visited Ye Olde Plough House.

Hopefully we can all help each other with that Smiley smile let us know how your second viewings go.

Hi DeeBee! A Down Hall bride how lovely. Ok I have to ask then, is there a particular reason you didn't choose Gosfield? (I'm just hoping it's not anything to do with the service!)

What colour BM dresses are you looking for? My RSVP deadline is tomorrow and I've had about 75% back which isn't bad I suppose.

Don't talk to me about BM dresses Smiley winking what kind of thing are you looking for? Maybe some of us can help? I love a bouncy castle. I'm sure the timing of your trial will be fine, odds are you'll love their work. Who have you gone with?

I have the dresses sorted...tho that was a nightmare too...its the shoes I need now. I have 4 bms,2in grey and 2 in lilac. 1has size 8 wide feet and is tall,1 is short so needs high heel, 1 is only 11 but wants a heel and my 15year old daughter wants flats. Aaaaarrgghhh

Nothing can annoy me today tho as I ordered my memory bouquet brooch last night and have just ordered giant garden games on a really good groupon deal :-D

Sorry I mis-read your original post. That is a very wide collection of shoes! What colour have you decided on? Silver would woke well with those colours I think.

Hi everyone, I'm an Essex bride, getting married at The Lawn in Rochford on the 21st August.

My flowers are being done by Faith Gurel, her Facebook page has lots of examples, I was really impressed with her!

I still need a veil and some shoes and bridesmaid shoes too... Among other things!

Was it alba rose? Picked up our rings from there on saturday. They are stunning.

The brentwood centre fayre is great, especially early on,as its massive and you get lots of info and freebies. We went to one at the lawn on rochford too.....found our florist and cake maker there. Was expecting a small number of stalls but there were lots of suppliers there and it wasnt too busy.

The cliffs pavilion one is also worth doing but it gets really busy and I found it quite stressful

I'm glad you're pleased with your rings. We have just got a quote from Alba Rose to do my ring and are just waiting on the picture to come through.

    Hi Smiley smile

I'm getting married 4th Sept 2015... a long way off so I hope I'm allowed to be part of the group Smiley smile

I'm getting married at Braxted Park and so far...think I'm super organised!

Paid the deposit, booked photographer, bought bridesmaids dresses, favors and place settings!

I've got one hell of a spreadsheet going...lets just make sure everything goes to plan :/

Any words of advice from those further down the line.

    xx

I couldn't get the dates I wanted at Gosfield as they were already booked up. Then we found Down Hall which as well as looking gorgeous and being super friendly and welcoming is being super accommodating regarding our dogs who are hugely important to us as they brought us together! Have heard lots of incredible reports about Gosfield Hall though!

The bridesmaid saga is rather complicated - I have 3 bridesmaids and my wife to be also has 3, we want them in the same design but Team DeeBee in pale blue and Team Mrs DeeBee in grey/silver. We have various body shapes to consider so need to find something that comes as both a full length and short dress. Seriously considering an online bridesmaid company right now but have had rather a lot of horror stories!

Re: RSVPs I've now had 3... and we only sent our invites out on Friday morning so that's a good start! Also had a text from my mum to say she's had a first item be snapped up from our gift list too! Our gift list is fairly unconventional because we didn't want housey stuff, felt money was impersonal and are only managing a mini-moon so instead we've whipped up 'Wish List For Our First Year Together' and filled it with all manner of stuff - afternoon teas, restaurant gift cards, whisky tasting sets, a golf lesson, cinema gift vouchers, theme park tickets, etc and then asked my mum to coordinate it - we're even letting people pick dates for things for us!
