Exciting times! Ours should have arrived by now too (they were being sent to my Nan's). OH went looking for suits tonight and unfortunately prefers a colour that doesn't match the colour scheme. Nevermind!

Went to see a florist tonight, she wss really lovely and helpful. Just waiting for the quote noe, fingers crossed!!

You're not too late at all. I reckon most couples do this quite soon as it's one of the 'nicer' and easier jobs :-) have fun choosing and don't forget to give us a flash.

Awwww bunnies :-) We very nearly opted for Parklands and one of the things I really liked about it was the deer they had on the grounds.

Hello venue twin! No, we're having it inside. I think that Sian was a bit miffed that we didn't want outside but it would just stress me out! It's not long now! Have you chosen your menu yet?

Yeah did it a while ago....haha that makes us look ontrack and super organised when really we are massively behind on loads of stuff. The weird thing is they are reallu flexible about the main parts of the menue but strangely rigid about the vegetables etc.

What are you doing about photos?only recently realised that everyone will be milling about outside while we are having photos....not very private. May have to disappesr down the lane to see the ponies for some peace.

Getting married on 31st October (5 months today!)

Our ceremony is at Layer Marney and our reception is at five lakes. Don't have too many suppliers as I'm a crafty so making alot myself!

Will need some minor adjustment on my dress, can anyone recommend a good seamstress in Colchester or surrounding area? Thanks in advance

Sophia Kitty I can def recommend the seamstress I used for my alterarions!

Her name is Veronika and her number is ****, she was recommended by abigails my dress shop.

She is the loveliest lady, lives in colchester just by castle park (gives you a permit to park outside her house)

Drop her a text/ phone call sure she would be happy to help if she had the availability

Just to add that I was a guest at a wedding in Essex(very surreal being the wrong side of the camera)....Stoke by Nayland spa and golf club. It is a decent venue from the experience we had....

Hope this might be of use to a couple looking for a venue near Colchester...

Thought I would pop up and say hello! Engaged in April and now the excitement dust has settled been nosing trying to get venue ideas! Although it's looking like it'll be a 2017 wedding at least! ( feels like forever away! ) but i have just qualified as a primary school teacher so the next job is for h2b and myself to get into a house this time next year!

Hasn't stopped us looking at venues though!! I'm guessing we'll have to wait until next year until anything can get booked for 2017 though?

Not yet, but i think there is a wedding fair there soon so we can see whats on offer, also excuse to go and see it again!

We've booked our venue! We're getting married at Cooling Castle Barn on 12 June 2016 I've been off work ill since we were engaged a month ago so have used the time to research venues. I have a stack of brochures but Cooling was the only one that ticked all our boxes. V excited and only two years to wait now

Thanks! I loved it so much. Actually, we both did. The selling point for me was how much OH liked it - he's rarely enthusiastic about anything so I took it as a good sign! It's definitely a popular venue, I couldn't believe how booked they were for 2016. We ended up with a Sunday, which isn't ideal but it was the time of year we wanted. The staff were fantastic, answered all our questions really well and have generally been great so far each time we've spoken to them. I want to go back to the venue asap with our parents so we can start planning how to decorate

Next wedding fair is Sunday 12th October......I might see you there!

I am getting married in Essex in 9 weeks (5 September) and feel as though I have so much to sort still and constantly having dreams where the wedding day is a diaster (dreamt that I was made up to look like a clown by the make-up artist and then the hairdresser gave me a buzz cut!!!).

How are you feeling now your wedding day isnt far away? I am super excited but really nervous too!

We are getting married in a church then having the reception in a Teepee in my grandad's garden, so lots to think about and organise from toilets, generators to cutlery and high chairs! I have lists on lists and am sure I will forget something! Just hope it doesnt pour down!

Coincidentally a lot of us Essex brides are also getting married in August/September time. I'm only 2 days after you and at the moment I'm doing more of the nitty gritty jobs like filling out the accommodation form for the venue (yawn!) I want to pretty things like have my dress fittings and order my veil :-)

A teepee sounds amazing! It will be like your own wedding festival and I'm betting there's no curfew?

I'm an Essex bride too. Have already left a couple of posts here and there! Have booked our date for June 2016 and we're having a ceremony only at Hedingham Castle - beyond excited!!!! Have so far booked venue, and registrar and that's it..... Still a little early to be booking other stuff, although I've got lots of ideas already :-)

It's never too early to book. I have bookings for 2016 already and yesterday I got an enquiry for March 2017! The benefit is you'll get this years price with many suppliers and you'll get the suppliers you want by booking early. Most only take a small deposit.
