Morning Hitchers

I thought it might be a nice idea for any brides getting married in Essex to share any venue or supplier ideas or recommendations they may have and discuss all things Essex wedding in general Smiley smile

So talk to me about your wedding! Where's your venue? What are you researching at the moment? What else is going on?

I'm a Gosfield Hall bride getting married in September, with a huge to do list, currently on the lookout for my shoes and bridesmaid dresses...and meeting with florists at the weekend...

My wedding is 3 weeks today! OH still hasn't got his suit haha, he better get a move on!

Having our wedding consultation on Thursday to sort out menus/ table plans and the music. Need to burn it onto a CD which I haven't done for a million years!

Thankfully I'm a teacher so I've broken up now and have more time to sort out all of the last minute things!

At least you have lots of time to sort everything out now you've broken up. How exciting, only 3 weeks to go!! Do you have much to do?

We still need to sort our backing music for the wedding breakfast, luckily one of my bridesmaids has offered to help me ?

    Hiya!

I have my final dress fittings, OH needs his suit. We're making the favours which are Star Wars chocolates- this is going to take a million years! We are also making the centre pieces, although luckily my mum is doing most of that. We have to decide upon the more general music for the 'sitting down' and eating part. Then coughing up all the money for the venue, band, TOG etc. Luckily we have mates rates!

Then of course I have all of my beautifying- getting my hair cut and coloured, nails done, spray tan (practice one for optimum 'best' colour on Thursday!)

I'm sure I've forgotten loads! Picking up the cake (ordered from M&S)......So yes, plenty to do!

Ha ha plenty to do but sounds like you have it under control enlisting help from mum ? It's all those finishing touches that need to be sorted now isn't it, exciting!

Ooh when is your final dress fitting? Did you need a lot of alterations? I have my first fitting in a couple of weeks, can't wait to get back in my dress again!

My wedding is NEXT WEEK!!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeek. Had my hen do at the weekend. My bridesmaids did an amazing job of organising it and I did an amazing job of embarrassing myself by getting absolutely hammered. Oops.

Mrsbushelltobe, I've had 1 fitting and another 2 to go, after my fitting this week it will only be the length that will need to be altered. It is from a large bridal shop in South Woodham Ferrers (everyone local will know it!).

Is the name of the shop also the name of an underwear brand? ?

I didn't try there, but heard lots of good reports on it. I got mine from a shop in Brentwood as they didn't charge for alterations, although they only have me booked in for one fitting, fingers crossed they get it right first time, because they said i go back 2 weeks before wedding to try it on/collect, eeeek panic!

Are you happy with how your alterations have gone?

Yes I think it is an underwear brand....an Italian word! I've haven't really seen the major alterations yet aside from adding the 'cups' (it has a very low back and there is no way I'm going bra-less!) when I go this week for my second fitting the body and the straps (I've wanted the straps thinned slightly) should be altered then only the length left. And I think I've lost weight on my hips so that my have to change too, but we'll see!

This was my bridal shop, they were fantastic, I had to have lots of fiddly alterations to straps and the dress looked amazing on the day.

And don't panic about time for alterations, I was still having alterations the week of my wedding and picked it up two days before.

There's a Essex dress shop thread on here somewhere - would be great if you girls added to it and kept it going!

I'm married!!!! I had an absolutely AMAZING day, it was fantastic, even better than I had hoped! ? I would recommend the Old Rectory to everyone- they were fabulous and we had the exact day that we wanted.

I'll post flashes after we come back from honeymoon next week!

    Good luck ladies!

Hey sorry only just seen your response, yes its going to be good as no kicking out time. It was 3 weeks yesterday until the wedding! I am so nervous!! so you get married 7 September? so much to do on the run up to it isn't it, I only got engaged in March this year so its been a bit of a whirlwind, not sure I could cope with a 2 year lead up to it, it's all so consuming this wedding lark isn't it! lets hope the weather is good for us Smiley smile x

No worries! Snap on the nerves although I think I've had them for ages! Yep on the 7th so my 3 week mark is tomorrow. Well done one getting so much done since March, I got engaged in 2011 but we didn't set a date until end of Jan so it feels like a short engagement within a long one! I think I would have cracked up doing it over 2 years! Fingers crossed on the weather....I sneaked a peak at a long range weather forecast last night and it doesn't seem too bad (at the moment!) x

Can any of my fellow Essex brides recommend a nail salon? I haven't used one on a regular basis in years so I have no idea who to trust with my bridal nails! Somewhere nearer east London would be particularly welcome.

    Hi all,

I'm new here and was just wondering if anyone else has had any trouble trying to get in touch with Brentwood registry office to book a registrar for their day? We've booked our venue for October next year but no one is answering there!

Hi CharlotteHR - when I tried booking our wedding with brentwood registry office I literally just sat on the phone and let it ring and ring, think it took me 4/5 attempts of just constantly ringing but someone eventually picked up xx
