I would hazard a guess, that about 8% of the UK's Polish inhabitants live at the bottom of my road. We even have a "Polski Producti" (Polish Supermarket!)
It's a shame they didn't give us more ? I always smile when I meet their gaze.
And I think the other 92% live in the fens! We have an Eastern European SUpermarket, and our Tesco have dedicated a few shelves and a freezer to Polish foods
If West Sussex is anything to go by, we treat them so nicely and there aren't any shops with 'No Polish' signs on the door (I assume they don't mean they have run out of Mr Sheen) in Bognor at all - well, I'd have the UK's entry on speed dial if I was them.
Are polish shops and products such a new thing? we've had a shop called warsaw stores in leeds for as long as i can remember. it used to be where you went for milk on a sunday when the shops used to be shut as the owners were jewish and shut on saturday instead.
and our sainsburys and tescos have a whole aisle of international food
maybe it's a leeds thing, we've always had a reasonable sized polish population, i went to school with quite a few people from polish backgrounds, albeit second and third generation immigrants
Our tesco does 'proper' polish food - I keep wanting to be brave enough to try some of the stranger looking stuff (or at least that stuff that looks really unfamiliar) but keep wussing out!
Hmmmm, the Norwegian song - I think it got worse the more times you heard it. I quite liked it the first time, but every time they played a clip after that, it grated more and more. As Graham Norton says, he does indeed have a face you want to slap ?.
We had a Eurovision party [hic] and I am now knackered/drunk, but just wanted to say that I loved Graham Norton! My favourites were Portugal, Azerbaijan and Finland, all for various reasons, but mainly because they were so catchy/dancy! I dont see the appeal of Norways song at all...it is not bad, but it is just OK.
