Evening Buffet

Lily, 11 July, 2022 at 22:03 Posted on Planning 0 1

Is it really necessary to spend thousands on an evening buffet?

We are having 60 day guests - 3 course meal at 2pm, followed by two ice creams at 5:30=7pm.

20-30 evening guests - Venue has suggested an 80 person buffet.

However the last two weddings I have been to, I have seen trays of food go to waste!?

I really do not want to be paying for waste...

So I was thinking of doing a buffet for 20-30 people and maybe a large cheese board as well.

They will also have cake to eat - which I'm sure usually gets wasted, so maybe this way it won't?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi there

We are getting married on 23rd of this month (ekk!) and we have gone for a sit down three course meal for 70 (that includes 5 kids who are having a two course kids meal) at around 4pm then we are doing bacon, egg or vegetarian sausage baps for the evening at approx 8.30pm and they are cutting up the cake and serving that. Our venue had lots of options for evening food, a buffet, a BBQ or canapes but we went for a more low key and cheaper option. They are catering for 65 evening guests, the told us to allow for 80% of all guests (so your day and evening added together) and its £5.95 a head so approx £460 for evening food.

It is up to you of course and depends how many evening extras you have and what your budget is. I have been to loads of weddings, at least 10 and the one I remember was the bacon and egg sandwiches!
