Evening buffet catering...

Is 5:30 the start time or finish time for the food? If it’s the start time, then by the time you’ve done the full 2hr sit down meal, you’ll only have a 1hr turnaround till the evening food is all, so I can’t see any of the day guests really wanting to eat much after that.


If it’s the finish time, then at least that’s 3hrs later, and assuming it’s a buffet that’ll be left out for a bit, they can snack later on. I think general advice in that circumstance is your normally cater for 70% of your guests, so 70 would be right. Although there does always seem food left over at weddings. Have you spoken to your caterers to ask their advice?

We are only having a hot buffet (Lasagne & Hotpot) meal plus the cake so not a 3 course sit down as such. I still don't think any of the day guests will want more than a quick nibble from the evening food

I have heard from venues I looked at that catering for 75% of your evening guests is a good way to do it. I hope this helps!

We did 75% and still had loads left so I would say catering for 70 would be fine, we ate late as well so had our evening food bought out at 9

The return journey wasn't as easy with additional security at Heathrow and flight delays. Still, nothing like as bad as Schiphol!
