Evening Guests Arrival

Florence, 7 February, 2023 at 22:14 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi guys, we get married at 12 o'clock with our music ending at 11 pm with departure any time between 11 - 11:30 pm, what time should we ask our evening guests to arrive? The evening food is being served after 7.30 pm. Would really appreciate any thoughts on this! Thank you x

Depends on if you are having a sit down meal for your day guests, and speeches etc as this will dictate the start time and your venue should be able to help with a timeline, as they will need to set up your room between meal and evening. Usually anytime from 7 is about right, but it really depends on what you are doing between ceremony and evening starting

I’m getting married at 12noon too and am conscious it might feel like a very long day so wanted the evening stuff to start about 1830. We’re having the wedding breakfast at about 1530 and have been advised to give about 2 hours for that so evening stuff will start about an hour later.

Thanks Charlotte, our venue is just a shell, we have to supply everything ourselves so it really just depends on what we want, I just want the evening guests to have a good period of time to enjoy themselves but also don't want them too early that they intrude on the day events.

Thanks Elizabeth, see that is what I was worried about too. Which is why we are finishing a little earlier than we would like because of the early start. We also don't want the evening guests to feel like they have had no time with us if we put the evening time too late.

I'm also getting married at 12pm so hopefully I can help a bit, although we're not having evening guests and we finish at 1am (so I'm probably going to be exhausted haha). Our meal will be at 3pm and we plan to finish meal and speeches by 5:30pm. It's then in our contract that we have to leave at least 45minutes for the room to be 'turned around' plus the DJ included in our package starts from 7pm. The plan is to cut the cake and have the first dance at 7pm.

I would maybe suggest you start the evening celebrations at 6:30pm if you are able to? That way you'll get 5 hours with the evening guests, but the daytime events should also be well out of the way!
