Fake flowers for bridesmaids?

Dee85, 17 of January of 2022 at 07:57 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 1 29
Hi everyone,
We are getting married in April this year & have been told we now have a new menu - this is more expensive. We are going to have to make some subtle changes to accommodate this. Have any of you used fake flowers/ silk flowers for bridesmaids? We have been quite £85 for 3 bunches of Gypsophilia. We are travelling 6 hours to our destination so will be on holiday & have no use for the flowers after the wedding

Any advice would be greatly appreciatedDee

My bridesmaids are having faux silk flower bouquets and I’m having a real one. They’re all absolutely fine with it and we did a trial test to ensure they photograph just as well like real ones. They will also be decorated in the same ribbon etc as my own. I feel your pain. I got quoted £35 for each bridesmaids which for a tiny bouquet was silly x

Hi, my MOHs mother sourced them from her shop for me however I did like a few on Etsy. If you ask the seller directly sometimes they are willing to send you 1 flower as a sample which they charge a very small amount for . Hope that helps and good luck!!

A couple of my friends just used supermarket flowers for their bridesmaids.

One had each of the girls carry a single lily with a ribbon tied round the stem. Another got married in spring and used bunches of daffodils with silver foil round the stems. I've also seen bunches of tulips with a ribbon round them. It would work out no more than £3 per bunch.

I'm really tempted by fake flowers as well - all round actually, no real ones at all! Partly because of the cost saving and partly because we're getting married outside so think they're likely to better withstand the elements. Our venue was able to recommend someone who works with fake flowers that they've had couples use before, so that's worth asking your venue? I'm planning on having a phone call with the company and maybe setting up a meeting to see what they actually look like before I commit.

    Hey!!
Yeah defo worth checking out… some of them look so pretty. Im browsing for my winter wedding and haven’t ordered anything yet, but if you pop “dried flower bouquet “ into Insta, Etsy, Google, then plenty will come up….. who you’d use might depend on local deliver ect!! Let me know if you do end up with that and recommend someone 👍🏻👍🏻💐

This is such a helpful thread. I have been quoted £280 for small gyp bouquets for the bridesmaids. So expensive! Seriously tempted to cut costs and go for the faux/dried flower bouquets. Thank you to those who’ve shared websites etc.

I'm getting married abroad in April and have 4 bridesmaids (daughters and step daughters) so I bought a load of fake flowers in Tesco. I know it sounds lame, but I found some really nice ones and I intend to cut the long stems and tie them together with elastic bands and then hessian around the outside. They can all keep them afterwards then too. I feel like they're only for the photos and I won't be getting any close ups, so for £50 for all of us, I think it's worth it, can use the money elsewhere x

I think it will save you a decent chunk - just yesterday I bit the bullet with fake flowers and the quote came in 1/3 of the price of real! Hope you manage to find some! Smiley flower

My friend had artificial flowers for her wedding about 11 1/2 years ago, and they looked great. It also meant I could keep my bridesmaid's bouquet, which I really liked.
I'm looking at artificial flowers for my own wedding in about 18 months cos they're just so much easier and cheaper than real!

My 4 junior bridesmaids are having wrist corsages with white ribbon instead of a bouquet which has worked out much cheaper. We are also doing a mixture of fake and real flowers for some of the venue decoration. My sister made her own bouquets for her wedding 11 years ago, she bought white roses and some foliage from M&S and watched You Tube tutorials.
