Family unable to make it

Kayleigh, 16 September, 2022 at 09:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Hi everyone! im new here so i apologise if this isnt the kind of thing to discuss here

my partner has just found out that his grandmother is extremely ill and theres a good chance that she sadly wont make it to see our wedding which is planned for 2025. we arent in a financial position to bring the wedding forward and we are worried that even if we do, she may not be able to make that either

is there anything we can do while we still have her to make her feel like she is part of the wedding? my mum mentioned a marriage blessing but we arent too religious and when i googled it, religion was mentioned a lot.

someone also mentioned an engagement party but she wouldnt want to come to a party as she doesnt do well with loud music

if anyone has been in this position or has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!

Really sorry to hear your partner's grandmother isn't well. Depending on what she's up to, could you do something like an early bridal shower/ afternoon tea, even if its just at home where you all dress up and raise a glass? There are lots of companies who will do grazing tables or afternoon tea at home catering. Of course its no substitute for the real thing but it might be a nice way to mark the occasion. You could wear something white and have a couple of speeches - or even have a bit of fun with it and get a veil and top hat from the joke shop.

Thank you so much for your message! she does like an afternoon tea, i previously worked in a hotel that hired an area for private afternoon tea parties! i definitely like the idea of a veil and hat though, i think she'd like that! she always told us how shes excited to buy her hat haha
