Fat fingers with long nails

You are bored, aren't you? I say no to long nails, period. When I'm dictator of all Britain I shall ban them.

Nay - reminds me of my great aunt who had really fat fingers and cruella de ville stylee nails.

I'm not a fan of long nails at all really.

Is this a random debate or has someone with fat fingers just come under your radar?

I have fat fingers and I know long nails don't work - though until I was pregnant I couldn't grow them long anyway. Now they grow so fast it's scary.

Oooooh no, especially with loads of rings.

I have fat fingers and have short nails, s'the way it should be.

I'm not along nail fan either. But what about those acrylic nails on fat fingers. I'm thinking common. More common than when on thin fingers. Why is that? Am I being overly concerned here?

Not keen on overly long nails, full stop. I find myself wondering how these people manage to put tights on without laddering them, how they wipe their arses without inflicting pain, how they take out contact lenses and other daily rituals. Short nails on everyone would allow me to focus my mind on more important things. ?

One of my male colleagues has long nails, especially his thumbnails. It makes me shudder. It's just wrong. [xx(]

Nothing in particular, I've seen a couple of fat fingered long nail people recently and I thought it looked common. I'm too judgemental aren't I? ?

You've given me a flasback to a woman in the dentist's waiting room yesterday who had fat fingers and acrylics with a french manicure in a squoval shape. Thing is her fingers were so pudgy that there was a small bit of pink nail and a massive square white bit. I couldn't stop staring.

Nooooooo - totally horrid. Although I think plumpish hands are generally more sttractive than bony veiny ones like mine, so more worth having nice nails on. But nice doesn't mean long, or fake.

My colleague has fat fingers and huuuuge long acrylics that she decorates. With rhinestones. She definitely twangs my common radar[:I]

I prefer nicely manicured nails that are a neat length ie end of finger tip.

I think long nails are quite 80's or old nana ish.

even victoria beckham sports shorter ones now. (not that she is anything to go by!)

I think pudgy fingers would look nicer without acrylics etc.
I totally get the looking at weird looking acrylics, I see some horrendous ones sometimes and wonder why people think they look good or why they would spend the money on something that is so wrong looking. surely the white should never be more than the pink?

Some acrylics/gels look nice but again they tend to be the more natural length ones.

How do you pick your nose with really long scoop nails or scratch your ear etc?

QB - I imagine their nails just get scummy and dirty. There was a Saturday girl at my hairdressers who had really long acrylic nails. I always used to shudder when she washed my hair because I imagined other people's hairs stuck under there, stroking my head. <shudder>

Heidihole, my dad is a butcher and for the same reason, he would never let my mum step behind the counter if he was busy and she happened to be in.
She used to be mortally offended at his suggestion that it would put his customers off.

I'm not a fan of long nails either but on the podgy hands thing Iusually notice the women with them(and sometimes rhindstones) often have greasy hair and no make up and wear tracksuits.I don't get why they take extra good care of the nail bit and ignore everything else?

Anyone know an alternative to acrylics which can give me hard wearing and slightly longer nails? My ownare very brittle.

My nails are all brittle and crap too Hyacinth. They grow to the top of my fingers and the split at the sides. Would short acrylic nails look common? I suppose they would.

I have chubby fingers, but I have my long nailbeds, and so only grow my nails to the ends of my fingers.

I hate people who chew their nails down so that the tips of their fingers swell over the nail making them look like treefrogs.

Yes! Why would you French pedicure your toe nails? Or put little jewels on them?

Maybe I should ask a manicurist type person. I deteste my hands but am getting married soon so I suppose there will be hand shots.
