Favourite made-up words...

Arquard, 27 June, 2011 at 16:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 30

You know the ones... they're not reeaaaaally words at all, but they've wormed their way into your vernacular and spread among your friends.

Mine are:

Mahoosive - like, really big, man.
Amazeballs - better than amazing
Muttwang - mind-numbingly pointless
Boswellox - just another way of saying b*llocks.
Ackshual - derived from a variety of hilarious misspellings of the word "actual" on a parenting forum I use

Not sure I really have any made up words.... my friend uses 'holibobs' for holiday which kind of stuck, but that's about it!

Deggs. As in "What's for tea? Boil deggs" Sometimes "Fry deggs".

    F*ckstick. A name for someone.

"Space" instead of "past the hour", as in "Shall we meet at 20 space?". Came from him as a predictive text insertion and has stuck. We have also passed it on to others. It actually sounds really normal to me to say "Ten space" now Smiley smile

ETA: I have seen you guys use "amazeballs" and "amazeface" words on this site - I am trying to lever them into my lingo.

    Twunt is also a good'un.

I am also quite partial to CB's use of Bumtrumpet. Makes me giggle.

Mr C's fav in the car when road raging is Turdburger. Nuf said.

Amazeballs and holibobs are used here too.

Arsepipe is a current favourite insult of mine at the moment.

We had a game at work last week where we had to come up with as many names for boy bits and lady bits as we could think of. We were very bored to be fair!

My favourites for lady bits are:

    Foofoo
    Flange
    Fanjita

Mr RB was watching that car programme where they fix up a car and sell it on (very boring). Anyway, they said the word flange so I started to pay attention. It's actually a rubber thingy merjiggy used in the engine.

I had previously thought it was just a made up word for lady bits too.

I thought flange was something a plumber put on pipes.

It might have had something to do with a pipe in the engine.

I love numpty and use it a lot - had to laugh because my Australian boss used it in a business meeting the other day and then again later in a more private conversation to call someone a 'effing numpty - and then checked with me that he had used it correctly! Had me in stiches.

Old ones were chish and fips (fish and chips) and par-cark (car-park) which I taught my non-native English speaking ex...who still uses them!

Nibbly nob-lies for bits to nibble, ie, twiglets, crisps, dips would all be nibbly noblies - my poor mum had no idea and asked me very loudly "but Samantha, what ARE nibbly noblies!" - bloody funny.

I love making up new words, using them for a while and then moving on - only to hear people say the words back to me as though they are proper words!

Words for your lady bits : tuppence, and my step daughter used to call it "her whistle" - totally flummoxed me!

Knob-jockey for someone who is a complete twunt.

Least favourite, but sadly widely used over here is "jinglies" to refer to anyone from Pakistan/India/Sri Lanka etc. I hate it but its a common term and very much accepted.

I use the word Twillock ( conglomeration of Twit and Pillock)

I also use the word Fruit in place of F**k a lot of the time, although more recently i have been proper swearing because i'm so fed up with certain people.

Woman - a word to describe someone/ or an action that you don't like (This is derived from when my sister and i used to play Tomb Raider with my sensitived eared niece close by. We didn't want her picking up bad words so we used to call lara a 'woman' everytime we got something wrong, and it's kind of stuck in our family - i forget people don't understand what we mean by it.
