Favours that double up as place names

Nutella, 28 January, 2012 at 21:10 Posted on Planning 0 26

To be a bit interesting and also potentially save a few pennies and avoid too much throwaway stuff, I quite like the idea of having place names that can also be used as the favours and people take them home... open to all suggestions, so suggest and flash away with ideas!

Yup, first time round I ordered chocolates with personalised wrappers. Sent the names off to a company that sent the named chocs back. I think the little catalogues in the wedding mags do them actually. Also very handy for shuffling around to work out the table plan!

My friend who got married last august, had wine glasses and whisky glasses and using glass paint she wrote everyones name on them, therefore doubled as favours and place names.

Love the cookies and chocolate ideas - might work really well with our table themes actually as thinking of naming each table after a chocolate..!

I doubt this is a cheap option, but one wedding I went to they engraved wine glasses with the guest's name (first name only), the bride and groom's name, and the date and place of the wedding. They also didn't have place settings but it could work (although first name only might not work so well as a place name)

We are having little favour boxes and putting chocolate hearts in them. The chocolates are in green wrappers to match the theme colour.

I am going to tie a luggage tag to each with the guests name so that they can also be the place names.

We're having name badges which will be tied around the serviettes, they'll also be getting some (maybe, personalised) m&ms and a lego minifigure each! The idea of the badges is that we'll have some ready for the evening guests too, to help 'break the ice' for those who don't know each other. We're having them too, being tied around the ribbon - mine will turn into a 'bracelet', just a bit of fun really!

I am doing this. As I'm having a 50's themed wedding I have got black cd's that look like old vinyl records. I'm getting labels made up for them with every adults name on. for the kids, a bag of retro sweets/ old school toy.. Not quite decided yet!

Home made jam? Depening how crafty you are, you could embroider or sew the persons name on the cloth covering you put on the top of jam jar OR, just write the person's name on the tag.

Flavoured oils or vinegars in bottles. Rosemary, chilli, garlic etc. Again, you could paint the persons name on the bottle, or on a tag.

I did home made chocolates for our wedding, with all different things mixed in. Coconut, cherries, mixed fruit, nuts, crushed biscuits etc. I got favour boxes from poundland at the time (10p per box!) that were in the shape of bride and groom and put the persons name on each as place name.

You could also just put the name on a tag attached to a little bag of goodies: coconut ice (made with a hint of your wedding colours), fudge, toffees, rocky road, marshmallows etc.

We had personalised initial wine glass charms as our favours - you could add names to these?

We've got champagne flutes that i'm going to paint everyones names on and decorate them too. i've also made some wine glass charms (thought the glasses would look too plain with just the charm on) with their names on too and they look good. i was going to try and etch names on but the cream i would need is form AMerica and would cost me a small fortune
