Fearne Cotton Married- Holly in cream......

louise blake, 5 July, 2014 at 11:04 Posted on Planning 0 35

So Fearne Cotton got married yesterday (have a google if you haven't seen there's loads of pictures floating around) and her best friend Holly Willoughby wore a cream dress. Personally I think she looks lovely and the article I read made no mention of this supposed 'faux-pas' but the comments are full of people slating her for wearing cream to her best friends wedding. She looked nothing like a bride IMO.

Take a google at Holly's dress- would it honestly bother you that much if a guest wore that to your wedding?

I truly think she looks nice and not bridal at all, especially compared to the beautiful Fearne.

I have a rule, when im a wedding guest I dont wear white or cream and if its a christening dont wear black, as much as thats my rule, some people dont mind, it wouldnt bother me if someone wore cream to my wedding (ha, I say that now, ask me again once im married and ill tell you if my answer changed lol)

I saw the pics and yes, it would bother me. I have just always found that a bit irritating... There are so many colours to choose from, why would you wear something similar to what a bride is wearing?! My dress is a shift, lace dress - with slight cream undertones. It could be quite easy for a guest to wear something similar (although probably knee length) as my dress isn't a typical big wedding dress. I just don't understand why she wore it - yes she looked nice but all the other guests managed to wear a different colour. Just think it's a bit cheeky and a tad "look at me"...

I honestly couldn't care less if a guest wore white to my wedding, or cream. They're just colours- I don't read any more into it than that.

Our names are on the invites, everyone knows it's our wedding.

I'd be far more miffed about someone turning up looking scruffy

For anyone who's not seen the dress:

I wouldn't wear a plain cream/white dress, if it had other patterns/colours on it that would have been better. White should be the bride's colour and nobody else's

I love Fearne's wedding dress, its beautiful

I think I might be a tad miffed. I know Holly is pregnant but she doesn't look very put together considering it's her best friend's wedding!

I think she looks great and so totally un-bridal that the colour doesn't matter. Don't like Fearne's dress much.

Loved fearnes dress, she looked so beautiful. Holly looked lovely as well, I imagine she wanted something flattering to wear- it's not like it was a full length tight number! I wouldn't notice if someone wore a similar outfit to my wedding.

I think Holly's looks a lot better than some of the tiny dresses that other were wearing such as

    Maybe I'm just old...

I really don't see why it's such a big deal if someone wears white or cream to a wedding, as long as they don't wear an actual wedding dress then what's the problem?

A wedding is about two people celebrating their love and taking vows, not about what guests wear.

I'd be miffed too, mostly because people are talking more about a guest than they are about the bride.

Okay so it's cream. But it's a smock dress with colour pops from the clutch shoes and pashmina. She's heavily pregnant. Who cares! She looks lovely and all eyes on Fearne. Perhaps if the shape was different and she wasn't 6 months pregnant id feel differently but let's not be all black and white about this (scuse the pun)

I think they both look great. Holly doesn't look at all bridal. She looks blooming and comfortable. I couldn't care what colour guests wear to my wedding. If wearing white/cream/ivory makes them happy then they'll come smiling. I can't ask for more than that!

They appear to actually be besties. I somehow doubt they didn't show each other their dresses beforehand, which means Holly got Fearne's approval, which is what matters!

In my life, I wouldn't wear white/cream etc to a wedding. Fearne was obviously ok with the dress choice though, which is not at all bridal looking. A friend of mine wore a lace off-white dress to my wedding. She called it 'beige' when she described it to me beforehand, LOL. I have to say that I DID notice it on the day, and thought it an odd choice on her part, but couldn't have given a flying **** overall. I think I would have found hers really weird if it was full length, but as it was knee length I didn't care.

^^^^ this! I personally wouldn't wear white or cream but it seriously wouldn't bother me what colour a guest would wear, I actually would prefer this than all black. As long as it's not an actual wedding dress obviously lol

hollys smock dress looked lovely imo

Unless someone turns up with a veil on carrying a bunch of you won't give two hoots what a guest wears to your wedding. Trust me this is a tired and tested fact from the om's

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking that!

A dress like that in cream wouldn't bother me but I'm glad I took my friend shopping and was able to point out that an ivory lace dress is probably not the best idea; lovely as it was, the same dress in navy and ivory was a much better choice.

I would only be miffed if it looked bridal, as corr1ne says, ivory lace is just a no no! I think i'd actually be more miffed if they turned up in something that made them look like a bridesmaid, or if the outfit was so wow I was upstaged! Haha. Holly is gorgeous, but certainly doesn't upstage the bride in this

Personally I think Holly looks good considering she is heavily pregnant, but I would of thought she could do better, as she looks lovely most of the time. For me as she has the bright shoes and accessories, so you don't really notice the dress itself! I personally think others looked a lot worse.. Kirsty Gallagher wore leather dress for gods sake, and I didn't like Denise's Van Outen playsuit thing, and don't get me started on Leigh Francis suit!! (Keith Lemon)

I thought Fearne looked stunning, her dress was beautiful and suited her so much! I think it seemed like a fairly laidback wedding (as celebrity weddings go!)

I think I would be bothered on the day if it was a full length, white or cream dress, knee length not so bad!

Personally I just want all the people I love there!

First you NEVER wear white/cream... I would genuinely tell someone to go get changed, it doesn't matter if its 'bridal' or not its a show stealing move (even if the bride is ok with it) as everyone will notice and talk, just look at this now EVERYONE is talking about holly and no one is talking about the bride and the same with Pippa at the royal wedding

secondly holly looks terrible... that's the worst dress Ive ever seen, scruffy as hell and looks like a pillow case with holes cut in it, maybe ok for a beach cover up but not a wedding - there's no excuse for wearing that, I went to 2 weddings while pregnant and 1 shortly after giving birth and managed to find something decent to wear each time its not hard to find maternity dresses and lets face it she could easily afford to buy one
