Feeling rather smug!

mccaules, 27 July, 2008 at 11:23 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend and enjoying the hot weather?!

Well I'm feeling rather smug as got a few things ticked off the ever growing wedding task list!

1) We booked and paid the deposit on the wedding car yesterday- booked a 1930's Beauford Tourer in black and cream - it's like a chitty chitty bang bang type and a soft top!

2) Ordered the BM dresses from Debenhams - they should arrive by Friday! Can't wait to get them!

3) Went into BHS to have a nosey at the sale stuff and stumbled across a gorgeous tiara. Ended up buying 3 of them for my BMs and a pair of pearl studs for me to wear to a christening in a few weeks - and the wole lot came to £8.25!!!! What a bargain! The Tiara's were supposed to be £10 each! Get yourself into BHS as the 75% off sale is fab!

I think I earned myself a big pat on the back! Gonna have a large glass of wine later to celebrate! He he!

Well done! Sounds like a very productive weekend!!

I'm also feeling rather smug as I've also picked up a few bargains recently! I'd picked all my stuff before and have been out buying it during the week. My wedding dress if from debenhams (http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_18773_564335_-1) -and was reduced to £33!! YES £33!! There's nothing wrong with it either-not a mark!!

So I got that! And then the shoes that I'd picked were in Next (who just happened to be having a massive sale yesterday) so I got them for £5!! Couldn't believe it! Must have been my luck day!!

I think my outfit is going to be the cheapest part of the whole thing!! lol!

Lol thank you! I'm not having the bolero jacket, just wearing it as a strapless dress. I actually found it about a year ago when my mum was shopping for an outfit in Debenhams. She was going to try some stuff on and to go in the changin room with her, I had to take something in with me so I took it for a laugh!! (I wasn't even engaged at this point!!) But when I put it on it just fitted perfectly and was so simple and elegant that I knew that was the one!! So I called the local shop on Wednesday to check they had it in stock before I went and she told me that there was 1 left in my size and it had been discontinued so it was reduced to £33! I think my jaw nearly hit the floor! So I just got it while they had it!!

Funnily enough a date is the only thing I don't have! I have picked a venue and got the dress and rings and a few other bits and bobs as I've seen them but we just cannot agree on a date! Ithink we've going towards July 09! Will decide on Wednesday when we go to book the venue I think!! Oh well never mind!!

What about you? When's yours and have you much else to do? x

Well it looks lovely and is obviously meant to be! You go girl! You remind me of me with picking bits and bobs up along the way. I have always loved a bargain, so have been getting bits off e*bay for favours and gifts, and we are making our own inbvites, so got some bits in The Works sale for them. It really helps with your budget to do it like this, and when time is on your side!

We got engaged last September and have been together for 8 years. We wanted a summer wedding so the date was quite easy, and it's 4 days before my Birthday! I got my dress from a local dress. My max budget for dress was £500 and I ended up with the most gorgeous dress with a tag of £1245 for £550! I'm so pleased and it was off the peg (ex sample) so it's there in the shop in storage! It's great when you just know! Have done alot of planning and booked venues, car, photographer, flowers (H2B aunt is florist), my aunt is making the cake etc etc.

Good luck with finding venue. Where abouts are you?

    I am also called Sarah!

Haha excellent- you did well there too then!! ? Gosh I bet that's an amazing dress! Any pics? Or just a description?

Yeah my budget for my outfit was max £500 too so at least I've saved a few pennies there! All helps!!

I'm in North Essex. Quite handy as there areabout 6 major wedding venues within 5 miles of me ? Good place to be when you want to get married! We got engaged in Feb this year but have been together for 6 years-childhood sweethearts!

So are you planning for this summer or next year?

Wow, you really have saved some pennies then - which you can put to something else!

My dress is quite vintage looking with swarovski crystals and embroidry all over. Not sure if this link will work: https://www.photobox.co.uk/album/28501167

Sounds like there are lots of lovely venues down by you then. What sort of wedding are you having? What sort of numbers? Are you having Bridesmaids?

We are on the edge of Merseyside/Lancashire and have booked a country house hotel about 20 mins drive from our local church. We moved up here from the midlands about 4 years ago, so a majority of guests will be travelling up. About 100 for the day and 160 total for the evening at the mo. Can't wait!
