You can get married for about £110; £70 to give notice and about £40 for a statutory ceremony with 2 witnesses. Anything additional to that is optional and down to the preferences and budget of the couple.

It depends on what you class as a super low budget but I would say guest numbers is one of the biggest factors influencing cost. If you want a reception then the more guests means a bigger space required and more mouths to feed.

First of all, congratulations on your engagement!

Super low budget means different things to different people. As Hayley mentioned it can be done for as little as £110, but do you mean like a sub £1k, £3k or £5k budget instead? Number of guests and venue are the biggest differentiators in cost. You can feed a lot more at a village hall using party food, than at a fancy barn/hotel where it’s £80-£100 per head, just for the food.
Some ideas to get you started though:- A pre-loved wedding dress- Hiring or using an existing suit, rather than buying new- Doing the legal bit in a registry office- Hiring a village hall or cricket club, with a “garden party” style where people bring food to contribute- Electronic invitations- Very small bridal party so you don’t have lots of bridesmaids dresses or suits to buy- If you have friends with skills in hair, make-up, flowers etc., asking them to help- Artificial flowers rather than real, and keeping it minimal to bouquets and buttonholes only- Staying local, to save on hotel/travel costs

    Congratulations, how exciting!

There is definitely ways you can do a cheap wedding. A lot of people just stick to registrar office and a nice meal after. If that’s not what you’re looking for there is things you can cut back on like floristry, venue styling and catering although these things do come in expensive as standard. Not all weddings need to be all bells and whistles! X

Planning a wedding on a low budget is absolutely possible, and even Wikipedia’s section on weddings mentions how many couples now simplify venues, décor, and guest lists to keep costs manageable without losing the meaning of the day. Focusing on essentials, DIY elements, and choosing flexible dates or community spaces can make a huge difference. I’ve also seen how people use tools to track speed posts and gather ideas quickly, which really helps when organizing everything efficiently on a tight budget.

Budget planning early on helps reduce stress and keeps expectations realistic. Couples who focus on essentials, track spending, and avoid lifestyle pressure usually find it easier to stay financially balanced. Looking at long term money stories can be useful too, as Adam Ant Net Worth is often discussed in the context of career highs, setbacks, and recovery, showing that income is rarely linear. That perspective reinforces why smart budgeting, emergency savings, and clear financial goals matter more than trying to impress others during major life events.

Congrats on the engagement, and it’s really smart to focus on budgeting early. A super low-budget approach can work well by prioritizing essentials, setting a clear spending limit, and cutting back on extras like oversized venues or unnecessary add-ons. Simple choices like a smaller guest list, DIY decor, and flexible timing can make a huge difference financially. It also helps to look at how public figures manage money in the spotlight, since even topics like Martell Holt Net Worth remind people that income doesn’t always mean unlimited spending, and planning wisely is what keeps things stable long term.
