Are there any foods from your childhood that you have tried again as an adult - were they better or worse?

We were never allowed any of those things as kids. My diet at university included lots of crispy pancakes, mini kievs, pot noodles etc. They were all good for hangovers. I think I need to buy some crispy pancakes for me the boy.

My guilty food pleasure if dining alone is Kraft Cheesy Pasta. Yum.

Oooh, you've just reminded me - Primula cheese spread in a tube - do they still sell that?

They do indeed. Primula cheese squirted onto a Ritz cracker seemed the height of sophistication to me in the Seventies. ?

My husband had crispy pancakes and oven chips for dinner the other night. They looked and smelled utterly rank.

Heinz baked beans with sausages. Just how I remember them.

Another banned item owing to G&T's tomatophobia.

Fishfingers (sanwiches) have also made a comeback.

There is something that I can't find anywhere.

When I was a child I used to love Heinz cucumber spread sandwiches. I can find sandwich spread, but the cucumber spread seems to have disappeared.

Do you remember those tins of toast toppers - you spread this gloop on toast then browned it under the grill? Is that still about?

I don't ever recall cucumber spread. Sandwich spread I remember though. Are you sure you aren't getting confused?

I never liked crispy pancakes as a child, they tasted a bit past their sell by date ?

I did like potato waffles though, in a sandwich with tomato sauce. My gran used to make them for us.

I miss home made chips, my mum hasn't made them for years, since she threw out the chip pan.

People that have never eaten crispy pancakes, Fray Bentos, Pot Noodle etc.......

WTF did you eat in your student days?

(Frankly al of the above would have been on one of my 'millionaire' days, KP Meanie sandwiches and (10p) Chomp bars being de rigeur)

Anyone else remember Ice Magic, that chocolate sauce stuff you put on ice cream that used to harden into chocolate, I liked that?

Mmm, the Chicken and Mushroom one was a favourite supper when I was at uni when my flatmate and I virtually lived on toast. I'm sure I've seen them in the supermarket in recent months.

I remember the Cucumber Spread. If you google for it, it is apparently still available but I can only find it as part of hampers for ex-pats. There's Heinz Cucumber Sandwich Spread and Heinz Original Sandwich Spread.

Tinned sausages and beans - the mysterious uniform greyness and texture of the 'sausages' is somthing I still don't understand (or want to). My childminder used to make a mean s&B toastie - 2 sausages neatly arranged on each side of the divide.
