Fire Pits?

2 May, 2009 at 23:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

What do you put in yours to light it?

i bought one in the vain hope that it will stop mr p piling wood into the bbq and lighting it, when he has had one too many and wants to enjoy a summers evening on the patio

we bought one of those log things from b&q. You light the wrapper and it burns for a couple of hours or so,but it didnt kick out much heat.so kind of defeated the object imo.

mr wants to use firelighters and kindling, but i think it might smoke too much, or do i just not have a clue as usual lol?

so what do you use?

tia

No experience of fire pits, but I used firelighters, kindling and loads of rolled up and knotted newspapers to get my hearth going. Thank god for central heating ?

We have one, and H uses wood, twigs and newspaper in it. He is/was a Scout though, so is into making fire. He has used lighter fluid too, which resulted in the garden almost catching fire, and the use of a fire extinguisher on the lawn...? So I wouldn't recommend it.

We have a big garden (by UK standards) so we don't worry too much about smoke. Not sure what the deal is over there..
