first dance song... what is/was yours?

We've just found ours! 'Monsters and Angels' by Voice of the Beehive

We're having this for our first dance :-)

I wanted something old and mushy , but oh wanted something more up date

Have a listen on itunes... We love it! As cabin crew I'm away a lot, the song just sort of fits (in a backwards sort of way) Now he's given me a diamond ring he says I'll get the string of pearls on my wedding day awwwww.

I'm struggling with this part of the wedding. The only song that means anything to both of us is 'Ride it' by Jay Sean. The lyrics are a bit inappropriate so we are swaying away from the song but are struggling to come up with another. Only other is 'a thousand years' by Christina Perri.

Any advice?

I was having real problems with this too; we just spent an eve going through our music collections and playing random stuff (helped that all our stuff is online so we can access it all without trawling through CDs)
Turns out, despite us thinking we don't have a song, there was one that OH used to play to me when we first got together - was so long ago that we had just forgotten!

We cant decide what to have as a first dance song, we r both aged 25 but really like older music like elvis, the beatles etc, we have managed to narrow it down to either the beach boys- god only know, the carpenters- won't last a day without you or Shania twain- from this moment. Really cant decide between the 3! please help!! thanks x

Pffft. Ours was a complete *** up. We wanted "To The End" by blur. Its about a break up (totes awks) but the lyrics, if you misconstrue them, are perfect for us. We have been together twenty years, and we finally made it, to the end, after drinking far too much, all those dirty words, blah blah blah.

Perfect.

But the DJ didn't have that (after advising the venue THREE MONTHS PRIOR) so we had to dance to "One Day Like This" by Elbow instead.

Had I have been sober I would have been furious.

I'd be furious if they didn't have my song for my first dance and didn't tell me until the day and expected me to dance to something else!!!!

We might not have a first dance, but if we do, I'd like L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole. My OH hates dancing (which is such a shame!) and we may just have an afternoon tea reception with no real evening do. I'd want a live band, not a DJ, which really adds to the expense...

We are struggling with this one, we have both agreed that we think we'd both like a first dance but H2B loves metal and isn't as open minded about music as me. I've made many suggestions but he hasn't liked any!☹️

We had Metallica - Nothing else matters as our first dance... but it was merged into Shake ya tail feather from The Blues Brothers after a couple of minutes and we got everyone up to dance with us.

I think ours is a fairly unusual one, but it was one of the first songs we ever listened to as a couple and we still love it as much as we did then~

We had this! had loads of compliments on it. We had it because we both loved the words and it's great to dance to. So many people complimented us on it.

Ours is Arctic Monkeys - Baby Im Yours

We absolutely love it. Its a cover version of an older song but we both love the Arctic Monkeys so we thought it was perfect :-) Its such a hard decision isnt it??? xxx

We've decided on olly murs dance with me tonight

I spent a year trying to get my husband to agree to a first dance song, we had a song in case we didn't find anything else but he wasn't happy with it. In the end we found ours by accident, 3 days before, whilst looking for background music to be played during our meal. We decided to play original versions of songs that had been remixed into dance tracks as we met through dance music when he was a dj. Anyways Stevie wonder all I do came on. We played it, looked at each other and thought the same thing at the same time.

I think we are going to have High - Lighthouse Family. The lyrics just feel so perfect, OH wasnt sure at first because of the tempo but we both love Lighthouse Family. He admitted the other day he has been listening to it loads so think its pretty definate now

We are having yellow by Coldplay absolutely love the song, I was singing it right before he proposed.

We were going to have Crazy Little thing Called Love by Queen, but then as neither of us have any dancing skills we felt it was a little bit too fast. So we currently are going for So Do I by Kenny Ball, as the lyrics are perfect. But who knows - it might change again!

Penny P, if he really wants metal than Metallica's Nothing Else Matters is a good option to go for. Also, trying listening the the version by Apocalyptica - they have a version of that played on cellos, as well as versions of other metal songs, as well as some of their own - Sacra, Beautiful or Romance could be options if he will venture to an offshoot of metal.

For me, I think we finally settled on a first dance song over the weekend - Love Walked In, by Thunder. They are my favorite band but for some reason I took a bit of persuading to choose this song!

Oooh I think this would be mine! Or Spanish Sahara by the band Foals.

We're having an accoustic version of About You Now by the Sugababes thats been sung slowly with just a piano (not by them) Its 'our song'; OH got in a taxi from a night out with his mates and drove from Wolverhampton to Telford to meet me when we were only seeing each other and at the end of the night when we were dancing it came on (the normal version) and I looked into his eyes and felt something I'd never felt before. Fast forward 6 years and here I am typing this on here!!

We were going to have the slow version of All I want for christmas but we are having the normal version coming out of church now so we are having our first dance to Always & Forever by Luther Vandross.
