First disagreement....about witnesses

So picking location, church, venue, date and colour scheme was a walk in the park. Done within 10days of being engaged. Bridal party selected, biting my tongue ever so slightly on groomsmen but his choice.
However we seem to be at logger heads about something so trivial....witnesses. I got upset and agreed to put pin in discussion for now. However I really don't want to back down or see a way to compromise. My brothers aren't involved in anyway at moment but his family are I've said how nice it would be for them to do witnesses. However OH thinks it should be one of them then his brother in law so it's equal. I get that but then one of my brothers isn't included at all. Arghhhhh.

    Can you get one of your brothers to do a reading instead of being a witness?

    It's entirely up to you who you pick as witnesses, but I do think there is a nice symbolism in having one person from each family as a witness - both families supporting the linking/joining of their families through the marriage.

    We had 4 sign (we have 6 grown up children) they don’t advertise it & we had to ask registrar at giving notice, returned form & on the day & they had to write small lol but our certificate shows 4 witnesses my 2 boys & husbands 2 daughters …,worth an ask & asking again lol

    We had my sister who was also maid of honour and one of his brothers as witnesses. His other brother did a reading. His family had zero involvement in the wedding so I was just trying to bring them in a bit. I don’t think they would have cared either way anyway but they are a funny bunch 🤣
