Fish and Chips?????

Hi everyone. I recently got engaged ? . Planning a June 2010 wedding. Read in Wedding Ideas mag about a couple who had a fish and chip van do all the catering. Seemed like a good idea to me. Anyone agree or do you think guests would think it was silly? Thanks x

    Congrats and welcome to hitched.

    I like the idea as an OFFER but not as an entire meal due to any dietry requirements, such as fats, oils, carbs, hate fish lololol etc etc....... you're safer with a mix of foods..

    I've been to two weddings with a fish and chip van and it was great. They didn't just do chips - they did sausages, chicken and pies too - they even did salad! Not sure if it was the same company. The only thing you might want to consider is that some guests might find it too greasy.

    Hello our caterer is the other half of the sausage fest, live feed who do all of the deal no deal catering and we really wanted to have sausage and mash but our parents did not like the idea so we bowed down to their payment power and are having a three course sit down dinner!! but if it's what you want be brave and say I think it will be fun. The only thing to worry about is grease or vinegard on your wedding dress!!

    I'm having a traditional wedding breakfast then having fish and chips instead of an evening buffet. Our venue overlooks the beach so I think it will suit the style of our wedding

    When we were looking for a venue we asked them all about how feasible it would be to have fish and chips as both H2B and I love them! Only one venue (we did only look 5 or 6) would have been able to do it. The others said it's not an easy meal to cook for 60 people and then make sure everyone gets it at the same time, plus a lot of the kitchens don't have space for that many fryers. One of the venues suggest a chip van but the others wanted us to have a meal from their menu, which is fair enough. But I think it's a fab idea if you can do it!

    I think I must be the only person in the world who would be pretty hacked off to be served greasy, stinky fish and chips at a wedding reception ?
