Flash me your wedding cake!

Alipops1986, 9 of April of 2012 at 13:33 Posted on Planning 0 33

Morning All, I've found two wedding cake designs I think I like but would love to see what you're all having! So, flash me your cakes! Also, how did you go about finding someone? We've been quoted some frightening prices but have found one lady who has a business from her house and she has quoted us between £165-£185 for a two tiered, simple design, wedding cake with one sponge flavour layer and a fruit layer. We're going to meet her and have a sample! [I'm actually quite excited!] How many people did you visit before making a decision? Alipops x

If you are concerned about price then how about making the cakes yourself and just paying for them tobe decorated? That is what my Mum is having done for me x

I am also having mine made by a lady who runs a business from home. I have sampled lots of cupcakes and had my sons birthday cake from her. Her work is amazing. Where abouts in the country are you?

This is one she has made before and will be almost the same I am having but with a diamante trim on like this

I love the look of M&S cakes, and they're maximum £250! i refuse to pay a load of money for a cake, we've been to 22 weddings in the last two years and I cannot remember the cake at ANY of the weddings so I don't think it will be a big deal in the long run

Flamin Nora I facking LOVE your cake!!!!

Mrs C, without being rude - how much were the M&S tiers? I'm hoping to grab a couple of these. We've been quoted £30 per cake for plain white sugarpasted 8" cakes. It's just for cutting in the kitchen.

If I remember rightly it was about £90 for all 3 tiers (white sponge).

I was hoping to get the 3 for 2 offer but they didn't do it at the right time!

So, have seen an OTT masquerade type cake complete with plumes and masks. It is £375 though, having issues with actually paying that *just* for a cake. ?

    Hi

We are having a cake similar to this, from Jackson's bakers.

Except instead of having Malteasers down the sides, we will have the malteasers in funnels between each layer.

The bottom layer is sponge, the middle is chocolate and the top is sponge. It is costing us (well, MOG) £179 including delivery to the venue on the day :-) I think it was a bargain!

    I love it :-)

    Enterflora that is AMAZING!

We're having purple and white so would love that!

I wonder how much it'd have cost if it wasn't 'mates rates'?

We are having this - I don't like fondant icing. It will be chocolate, carrot and lemon drizzle (Snoop Dogg's favourite flavour....)

This was ours, we got the cake from Hockley's and just put the ribbon and buckles etc on ourselves, it was bottom layer fruit and the other 2 chocolate fudge cake it tasted lush! Think it cost us £220 for the cake then a few quid for us to finish it off! x
