    Hi lucindaveronique,

We're getting married at Coombe Lodge on 24th March 2013...I LOVE it, fell in love as soon as I saw it. OH wanted Avon Gorge hotel but I won!

Im not familiar with Shortwood Lodge, I'll have a look now. When's ur big day?

Can't wait for people to see (and try) our doughnut cake, What's ur guest to doughnut ratio?! We're having 90 Guests, and having the smaller doughnuts, so gone for 150 doughnuts!

    Hiya Elzbells

I've heard of Coombe Lodge but its kind of the otherside of town for mine and OHs family! Shortwood Lodge done us a deal we couldn't refuse as OH is a plumber and done some work round there a few times!!! They also own Tracey Park, that's more of a weddingy venue (if you know what I mean!) but we couldn't afford their prices!!!

Our venue advised that we cater for 85% for food so based our doughnut order on that too! We're having 100(ish) guests and waiting for the last of the rsvps to come in! We did initially say 85 doughnuts but am thinking a few more now!!! We're having the smaller sized ones as I thought they looked really nice and fitted well on the tower. Are you hiring the tower too? Do you reckon they'll give us some labels for the different flavours?!

Our wedding is soon and its scarey - 21st September eekkkk!!!!

Here's mine, for my Hello Kitty, halloween themed wedding. Considering it was my first attempt at baking, I was quite chuffed with how it turned out. Just plain vanilla sponge here. Didn't see the point in anything fancy, as i only had 2 guests ?

Does he mean cakes made of rounds of cheese, or the biscuit based cheesecake? My OH liked the idea of cheesecake (the dessert) so I would have bought one of those cake stands that holds each cake individually (rather than have them piled on each other.)

Flash Me Your Wedding Cakes!" is a phrase that, at first glance, might seem like an odd or humorous request, but it has become a playful and engaging way to prompt couples, bakers, or cake enthusiasts to showcase their wedding cake designs. In today's social media-driven world, where visuals are key, this phrase typically appears as a call for people to share pictures of their wedding cakes, either through social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or wedding-related forums. The trend encourages creativity, offering a space for couples to inspire each other, and for bakers to promote their work and get feedback.

    The Significance of Wedding Cakes

Wedding cakes are not just a dessert; they are a centerpiece of a couple's big day, symbolizing celebration, joy, and a sweet start to the couple's new life together. The design, flavor, and overall presentation of the wedding cake are often an expression of the couple's personalities and the theme of the wedding itself. From traditional multi-tiered designs to more modern, minimalistic cakes or even quirky and personalized ones, the wedding cake has evolved into a creative canvas that tells a story.

Flashing Your Wedding Cakes: How It Works

When someone says "Flash me your wedding cakes," they're essentially encouraging others to share their cake designs, often as part of a fun or informal challenge. This can be done through:

    1. Social Media: Couples might post photos of their wedding cakes on Instagram, using hashtags like #WeddingCakeInspiration or #CakeGoals to reach a wider audience. These platforms allow users to interact by liking, commenting, and reposting images.

    2. Cake Competitions: Some wedding-related forums or bakeries might host competitions where couples or professional bakers submit photos of their wedding cakes for a chance to win a prize or gain exposure.

    3. Wedding Planning Communities: Websites like The Knot or WeddingWire, or specific Facebook groups, often encourage users to post their cake ideas or finished cakes, offering tips, advice, and inspiration.

    Wedding Cake Trends

The phrase "Flash me your wedding cakes!" also connects to broader trends in wedding cake designs. Over the years, wedding cake styles have gone from simple and traditional to elaborate works of art. Some of the most popular trends currently include:

    • Naked Cakes: Cakes without fondant, showing layers of sponge and fillings, offering a rustic look.
    • Geode Cakes: Incorporating edible crystals made from sugar to create a dazzling, jewel-like effect.
    • Floral Accents: Real or edible flowers adorning the cake for a soft, elegant touch.
    • Bold Colors: Many couples now opt for cakes in non-traditional colors, such as deep blues, metallics, or even pastels.
    • Personalized Themes: Cakes shaped or decorated to reflect hobbies, travel experiences, or inside jokes unique to the couple.
    The Importance of Sharing

Sharing wedding cake designs online has a couple of key benefits. For brides and grooms, it's a way to gather ideas and visualize what they want for their own wedding. For bakers and cake designers, it's an opportunity to showcase their talent and reach a wider audience, whether through Instagram portfolios or by participating in wedding cake challenges. This sharing of ideas creates a community where creativity thrives, and trends can rapidly evolve as couples continue to push the boundaries of traditional cake design.

In conclusion, "Flash me your wedding cakes!" is a fun and engaging invitation to participate in a larger conversation about one of the most delightful and visually striking elements of wedding celebrations. Whether you're a bride-to-be, a cake enthusiast, or a professional baker, this phrase signifies a shared appreciation for creativity, craftsmanship, and the sweet memories that a wedding cake brings to a couple's big day.
