We arrived at the Folly Inn- one of my fave pubs on the Island- where the landlord had reserved us two tables; one inside (for dancing on tables) and one outside (for the view / vibe). We decided to sit at the outside table even though it would have meant we missed the live music and, yes, you can legitimately dance on the tables in this place- they encourage it!
Had a bottle of Prosecco, some beautiful scallops followed by steak in garlic butter with a side of mac cheese (it's my hen do, I can eat what I want to!) and then they opened up the bi-fold doors between us and the main pub so we could hear the live music anyway! It was an absolute dude with a key-tar. He was banging out some 80s crackers, but suddenly burst into a rendition of 'Get Lucky' by Daft Punk which became our unofficial theme tune for the weekend. He was a don. Was considering signing him up for the wedding reception!
We left at a pretty modest 10pm and headed to the Mission where we'd be spending the weekend. Oh. My. God. The photos on the website looked amazing, but they did not do this place justice! It was INCREDIBLE. AND it had a foozeball table! We spent about 20 minutes running around like over-excited loons and bagsy-ing bedrooms.
The fridge was fully stocked with Crabbie's and bottles of wine. The owners of the accommodation had left us a Victoria sponge cake on the kitchen table, my mum (God love her) had bought ANOTHER box of cupcakes- this time from Lulu's Bakery on the Island. They didn't hang around long enough to get a picture of (!) but here's the pic from Lillie's (the owners) Facebook page:
We were all pretty tuckered out and had an early start planned for the morning, so my sister and mum headed back to my mum's place, and we settled in for the night.
Saturday was the proper Famous Five themed part of the weekend, so we all got breakfast / showered and changed into our outfits. Here's a pic of my sisters, mum and I just before we set off (as you can see, we have all been blessed with the fattest knees in the Universe...):
to be continued....
