Flower Costs?

MrsA2B2014, 2 of April of 2014 at 16:40 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi All,

We've just had our quote back from the florist, I've got no idea if the price is good or not and now not sure what to do.

The florist is the designated one for the venue and I'm happy with her work just don't know if it's all a bit too expensive?

My bouquet - £91

BM's x 3 - £50

Groom button hole - £12

8 button holes (ushers, parents etc) - £60

Flower girls gyp garlands x 6- £25 each (I think I've found where I can cut down......)

Church decs (all transferable to tables for reception) -

Garland for the altar, gyp and roses - £82

Pew Ends - £250

2 columns for altar - £65

Church entrance (gyp, greenery and pink roses) - optional - £140

Excuse the odd figures, I've converted from euros in to pounds. Definitely cut the garlands for flower girls I think!!

The decorations for the church will all be used as centre pieces which spares expense, but it just seems like a big chunk of money.

We've paid £400 for flowers. This is for lots and lots (and lots!) of roses

    3 BM bouquets

    1 flower girl posy

    8 centrepiece arrangements

    1 top table arrangement

    12 buttonholes

church ladies are doing an arrangement for the church & I'm having a brooch bouquet.

Mine aren't far off yours total cost wise.

The only other thing I would suggest cutting is the pew ends. Is there something else you could do? maybe some pretty ribbon tied or every other pew?

The only points I would make would be the Groom's buttonhole is higher than average yet the flower girl's garlands are cheaper than I thought. I'm a florist so I know how much wiring work would be needed to do the gyp circlets and they would also take a lot of gyp - I would have put them more at the £30/35 mark. The Groom's buttonhole I would estimate between £8.50 and £10. The rest sound fine for what you are having. Hope that helps.

For comparison I've been quoted £700 which includes:

    Brides bouquet

    5 BM corsages

    5 button holes for usher

    1 button hole for groom

2 corsages for MOB and MOG

2 button holes for FOB and FOG

    10 table centerpeices

    1 top table arrangement

    2 pedestals

I've also been quoted £1500-£1800 by another lady to do the same arrangements so it really does depend on who you go to.

Over the rainbow, that is so helpful. Thank you!!

Thanks everyone, nice to know it's not over priced.

I think the main issue we have is that the whole wedding is themed around Roses, and I don't think the variety we've chosen are that readily available in Italy.

Happy to pay for the pew ends, as they'll be transferred to the tables during the reception.
