Flowers and florists

Tamaryn, 3 November, 2021 at 17:39 Posted on Planning 0 8
Hi all!

We are getting married in North Yorkshire next April (2022) and are having a low budget, rustic wedding. We're going for something quite minimalist so I don't feel I need the full florist wedding flowers experience. I just need a small bouquet (I'm quite petite so a large arrangement would look odd), and then some bits for aisle decorations.
Do I still need to get a florist to organise something this simple?
I should also mention that I stumbled upon and love the idea of a dried flower bouquet.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, we are having a low key wedding as well. I’ve found a local florist who grows her own flowers and will be making bouquets and button holes and just giving us buckets of flowers to organise for ourselves and will buy dried flowers separately to have on the tables, but going to try not to touch them much in case they start to fall apart! DIY can get stressful though.

For your rustic theme you could make these yourself which are simple to make for the isle pew ends.

You don't 'need' any flowers at all - it's entirely up to you.

I had my bouquet and my OHs buttonhole made by a local florist because I love flowers and reckoned it would be the only time in my life I get to pick a bouquet for myself that's just what I want! So for me, it was well worth the cost because of the enormous pleasure it gave me. (Venue flowers were DIYed by a kind volunteer with flowers from their garden)

You could buy a dried flower bouquet. I've also seen courses that you can go on to learn how to make one - since you could do this well in advance of the day, that might be an option to consider if you like crafting things. Or you could just buy a bunch of supermarket flowers! Do what works for you.

I love this idea. I think I'll look into florists and maybe our local farmers markets to see if any florists could do something simple like this.

Did you find someone Tamaryn? Our florist is a good friend and just moved up from down south. Check out North and Flower, I think she is cheshire now but will travel throughout the north west. : )
