Food

I’m really so confused on what food options to do for my wedding, so I’ve definitely decided to have a two course meal for after the ceremony that is something I’m definitely going to do.
for the evening I was going to do barbecue food indoors, so you would get American style, hotdogs, burgers, buns, salads and sauce with onions and cheese.
but there’s also an option to have hot cob selection which is chip cob, sausage, cob, bacon, cob, salad and sauce The cob selection is alot cheaper than the barbecue one so I don’t know which one to go for this is for the evening time I don’t know whether to go for the barbecue or the hot cob I don’t know which one will be better. I keep changing my mind so much haha

By 'cob' do you mean the bread rolls or the sweetcorn kind? I'm not familiar with a hot cob buffet.

The barbeque one is more usual but if you like the alternative better, then go for it.

Kayleigh, both your wedding food ideas sound amazing, but it really depends on the atmosphere you want for the evening! A barbecue-style setup with American hotdogs, burgers, and salads gives a lively, casual vibe and plenty of variety—similar to Harvey’s menu Canada with prices , where you can customize burgers and enjoy options ranging from $6.99 for an Original Burger to $8.49 for an Angus Burger with sides like poutine around $5.99–$7.99. On the other hand, the hot cob selection is cozy, comforting, and budget-friendly—great for guests who want something warm and filling without too much fuss. If your venue allows indoor grilling and you want a fun, interactive feel, go for the barbecue; if you’re aiming for simplicity and saving costs, the hot cobs could be the perfect pick!

Choosing between a barbecue and a hot cob selection depends on your theme, guest preferences, and budget—both options bring unique charm to wedding catering. According to Wikipedia, barbecue-style dining promotes social interaction and offers rich, smoky flavors, while traditional cob meals provide comforting, hearty choices perfect for casual settings. A thoughtfully arranged food menu can combine both ideas, ensuring variety and satisfaction for all guests

For your evening food, it really comes down to atmosphere, budget, and how “wow” you want it to feel, because the barbecue option with burgers and hotdogs creates more of a fun, party-style vibe that most guests instantly recognize and enjoy, while the hot cob option is simpler, more filling, and easier on costs, so if you’re trying to save without compromising on comfort food, cobs are a solid choice, but if you want something more exciting and wedding-like, barbecue wins for variety and presentation, and you can even think of it the way people compare fast food deals like Burger King Canada menu specials prices —sometimes you go for value, other times you go for the meal that feels more special, so choose based on whether your priority is budget or creating a more memorable evening spread.

Planning your wedding menu can definitely feel overwhelming, especially when deciding between something hearty like a barbecue or a simpler option like a hot cob selection for the evening. Both have their perks: the barbecue gives that classic American-style vibe with hotdogs, burgers, buns, salads, and all the toppings, making it feel more like a festive feast, while the hot cob option with chip cob, sausage cob, bacon cob, salad, and sauce is simpler, quicker, and more budget-friendly. If you want to impress guests with variety and a fuller meal experience, the barbecue might be worth the extra cost, but if you’re aiming to keep it light, casual, and economical, the hot cob works perfectly. It’s all about whether you want a laid-back, cozy evening or a slightly more indulgent one—kind of like deciding whether to go for a full chicken dinner or just a half at prices at swiss chalet , depending on how much you want to splurge while keeping everyone happy.
