S

food vans

Stephie81, 23 May, 2016 at 09:24 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi all,

My fiance and I are getting married next May. We are having a DIY wedding and so rather than a sit-down meal, want to get a fish 'n' chip or burger van. Has anyone done this? What kind of cost are we looking at? Ideally we don't want a "wedding package" - we want it to be more like a festival feel, so people go and buy food as and when they are hungry! Thanks!

    Hi Smiley smile

We are having fish and chips for our DIY wedding too. They took the order a few weeks ago, bring the van to the village hall to set up and cook on site. We've got 120 guests and it's come in at £500. We chose our local fish and chip shop but they just happened to offer the service and charge per head.

They also supply the knife and forks, salt, vinegar and red sauce.

I went to a wedding last year where their evening food was a fish and chip van, not sure how much they spent but I think it was comparably cheaper to other options. It went down a treat! Just the kind of thing you want after a few drinks!

I had a wedding last weekend that had pies from Pieminister which were awesome! They cater for weddings and were really good, and trust me I've seen a lot of caterers! I'm sure they'd work with your ideas.

I'm not sure where you are but Hooked & Cooked have a posh fish & chip van that covers north of England.

Totally love the idea of Fish and Chips. Will you have mushy peas?? What will you do for any non-fish eaters?

My good friend in Surrey has a fab Fish n Chip van company with an awesome name ... "the Frying Squad" : http://www.thefryingsquad.co.uk
