    We're having 'Song of Solomon 2.10-13; 8.6,7' :

    My beloved speaks and says to me:

    'Arise my love, my fair one,

    and come away;

    for now the winter is past,

    the rain is over and gone.

    The flowers appear on the earth;

    the time of singing has come,

    and the voice of the turtle dove

    is heard in our land.

    The fig tree puts forth its figs,

    and the vines are in blossom;

    they give forth fragrance.

    Arise, my love, my fair one,

    and come away.'

    Set me as a seal upon your heart,

    as a seal upon your arm;

    for love is strong as death,

    passion fierce as the grave.

    Its flashes are flashes of fire,

    a raging flame.

    Many waters cannot quench love,

    neither can floods drown it.

    If one offered for love

    all the wealth of one's house,

    it would be utterly scorned.

    The vicar said her favourites were that one and Corinthians and we didnt want Corinthians as everyone has it.

    HTH

    It's so difficult to choose readings that are meaningful and easyish for people to understand.

    A reading from the Letter to the Hebrews 13:1-4a, 5-6b

    Brothers and sisters:
    Let mutual love continue.
    Do not neglect hospitality,
    for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels.
    Be mindful of prisoners as if sharing their imprisonment,
    and of the ill-treated as of yourselves,
    for you also are in the body.
    Let marriage be honored among all
    and the marriage bed be kept undefiled.
    Let your life be free from love of money
    but be content with what you have,
    for he has said, I will never forsake you or abandon you.
    Thus we may say with confidence:
    The Lord is my helper,
    and I will not be afraid.

    Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

    Two are better than one,

    because they have a good return for their labor:
    If either of them falls down,

    one can help the other up.
    But pity anyone who falls
    and has no one to help them up.
    Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
    But how can one keep warm alone?
    Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.
    A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

    The last one we are definitely having is the wedding at Cana. We love that Jesus' first miracle was at a wedding, and his main concern was to get everyone absolutely wasted!

    I think I'm going o have that bit from Ecclesiastes as one of my readings.

    Hasn't your vicar/priest given you any ideas? Ours gave us the standard 'planning your catholic wedding' guide, which was useless at providing any wedding planning advice, but had a useful section in the middle with suggestions for readings.

    Oh you too Sapphire, I think it's lovely. I wonder whether it's too short sometimes. May have 2 short readings and a long gospel reading.

    We had exactly the same problem as the last 6 weddings we've been to have had corinthians!

    after extensive research, we have gone for this one....

    READING: 1 John 4:7-12

    “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us”

    We are having a RC service and the Father has given us a list of reading we will be allowed. O/H's sister has offered to do the reading for us.

    I don't won a bible so can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I will be able to find the readings. Don't want to ask the Father for a bible either incase he refuses to Marry us (silly I now).

    Thanx

    We're going to let Dave's Granny choose as we're hoping to get married in the Church where OH's Grandad was vicar for many years - She'll pick something that Grandpa liked and used at weddings.
