French fancy dress theme - help me out please?

Argh, H has to go to his boss's house on Saturday night for a fancy dress party with a French theme. I can't go as we can't get a baby sitter (ooh, what a shame)

He doesn't want to do the usual string of garlic and beret so the only thing I can think of is give him a huge nose and go as Gerard Depardieu. Or I could fashion him a guillotine to strap around his head using coast hangers and foil. ?

I think you can see that we need some help ?

Until I read it was for your H and not you, I was going to suggest a trench coat, beret, neck scarf and white ankle socks for Michelle of the Résistance (Allo Allo). Might still work though.. ?

Something to do with the Tour de France? Can your H get away with cycling shots??

Napoleon? I think his costume would be relatively easy to cobble together.

French policeman? I think the hat that they wear is pretty identifiable? How about going as Inspector Clouseau a la Peter Sellers? ?

Am so disappointed - when this thread was on the front page of the Hitched discussion board all I could see of the title was "French Fanc" - thought it was going to be about yummy cakes ??

Hazel, it's certainly possible - I only picked up some dry cleaning today so all those flimsy metal coat hangers are crying out for a craft project ?
