Fuming at Natwest

Stargazerlily2626, 6 February, 2009 at 16:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I am self employed and am paid entirely by cheque (which has all the annoying delays that come with waiting for cheques to clear). I have a business account in my maiden name as this is the name I practice under. I also have a current account in my married name.

I am stuck at home with a sick baby so my husband took some cheques to pay into my business account. The Kensington branch refused to bank them claiming my business account is in my married name and therefore the names on the cheques did not match the account name. I telephoned my personal manager who confirmed that this is rubbish. The Kensington branch refused to telephone my personal manager to confirm and my personal manager could get no reply when she telephoned them. He has had to leave not being able to bank the cheques.

I am fuming.

I used to work for RBS (so systems are the same). They are morons. Write a letter to 'Customer Relations' in Edinburgh, make it really snotty plus throw in the sick baby story for a little extra sympathy. I can see £50 and some flowers winging its way to you.

Total arses. MrH had a long running battle with Natwest which resulted in them asking him never to bank with them again (no chance!). When his work stuffed up 3 years later and paid some expenses into an old nw a/c they were happy enough to take the cas despite saying his a/c was closed. Took threat of banking ombudsman to sort.

Poor thing! I had similar probs with them. Felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. I couldn't wait to leave them as they just made life so difficult.

Just remember, the counter staff are only shop workers (they just deal with money rather than goods) - makes me feel better to think that .?

I think the letter is a good idea - perhaps dampen the paper slightly to make it look like you've been crying over it.

Natwest are a bunch of Morons. H has his personal account with them, plus our joint household bills account. We moved house 18 months ago and he's visited the branch 3 times, called them at least 10 times, faxed them twice and written four times and they are STILL sending his/our post to our previous address. Luckily we still have a redirect service, but that will end soon.

I'm on the verge of a complaint to the Ombudsman, as I don't see what else we can do.

Didn't reply fast enough. Thanks for all your sympathies and tales of woe. I would move but I reckon they are all similar (oh and there is the small matter of my giant overdraft ?)

I work for Natwest/RBS and agree that they are utter morons. Their procedures for Change Of Address are completely stupid andin my opinion are really open to fraud as they insist on sending letters about it to both old and new addresses.

I hated them before I started working for them because of a mess up with a cancelled cheque that they insisted on cashing. I thought I was being petty holding a grudge so took the job but they really are useless. I'm on Maternity Leave at the moment but wont be going back. They are shipping loads of back office work abroad and turning their admin offices into call centres so that they can carry on with their crap about having all their call centres UK based.

I also work for natwest , I have had this on a couple of occasions I have either phoned the personal manager or if need be paid the cheque into your personal account , in the same name . Once the funds cleared they could then be transferred over to the business account .

As for the change of address procedure , this is not a rare case . We have to now do the change of address online print this off then send it to a processing centre . I'm not sure why as there is more errors made this way . Before we filled out a paper form or the customer did then we sent it off .
