Gemstone Engagement Rings

CrazyRatLady, 23 December, 2013 at 11:11 Posted on Planning 0 9

Who else has a gemstone instead of a diamond? What made you choose it? My ring is vintage style with a ruby, I wanted something unique and 'me' and I love red, our Gothic themed wedding is black and red, and this ring was absolutely perfect :-)

Mine is an antique and has an amethyst as the main stone, I chose it because purple is my favourite colour and I wanted something a bit different ;-)

Yours is gorgeous by the way ❤️

I also love garnet as its our sons birthstone

diamonds just seem a little boring to me, my family usually have sapphires or opals

    Hiya,

I have a sapphire with 2 diamonds on either side. Ever since I was a teenager I knew I wanted a sapphire engagement ring, my H2B got it specially made for me as no shops had anything to what I imagined. I love the fact that its different to all my friends as they have diamonds.

I went for Sapphires too because it's my birthstone and I've always known I wanted Sapphires for my engagement ring. We found mine on Etsy and I love that it's an unusual shape, I didn't want something that was the same as everyone else's.

I have a rainbow opal Smiley smile opal is my birthstone. I'd read a few things about opal being "bad luck" for an engagement ring but it's actually a really magical stone. Love it Smiley smile

I have an opal too - the ring belonged to my great grandmother. I had a choice of a few rings, including a couple of diamonds, but the opal was so unusual. Opals are supposed to carry all the lucks because they have the colours of all the other stones in them.

So many gorgeous rings!! I originally wanted a green sapphire but the jeweller we always use recommended a green diamond for strength and they aren't that much more expensive so I had this one made.

Mines a light blue sapphire and diamonds! We were in holiday (first since having our baby) we'd talked about getting engaged but money stood in our way. We walked past a jewellers, stopped to look and I saw my ring. So we went in and tried it on, walked out having bought it and he said 'I guess we're engaged now' and that was that
