general advice needed+also south lodge hotel, sussex...

emmyroo22, 8 July, 2008 at 22:44 Posted on Planning 0 4

Has anyone got married/been to a wedding here? just wondered your opinions on it? ive heard a lot of great stuff about it....

im a little torn at the moment as it seems to be the perfect venue for me....barr one thing....looking on the net it staes the hire prices etc, then it says there is a minimum cost of just uner £11k, which is over my budget (was hoping to do everything for about 12k)

so, my problem now is do i go look at it (and probably fall in love with it a million times over!!) in the hope that i can negotiate the price a little or should i rule it out?? i know people have asked before about negotiating prices and the general opinion is its worth a go, but dont wanna come across as a skank or anything!! lol!!

advice neeeeed!!

hmmm, tough one. If you cant afford it then i would say dont look at it. Cross it off your list. That way you can concentrate on what are probebly fantastic venues, which you will also love and have within budget!

Instead of SOuth Lodge (lovely but v expensive) try Alexander House Hotel - very near, ten times nicer and cheaper!!

South Lodge was the first venue I looked at and I have to say (and its my opinion) that I really didnt like it when I saw it (though I loved the look of it on the website and in the brochure)

It was far too sinister and harry potter like, it was all suits of armour and swords

Also it was very expensive, there are plenty of other lovely venues (and cheaper) round here!

South Lodge is very nice but so is Alexander House and I actually thought Alexander House would be more expensive!
