Getting Married in Cyprus or Greece - Advice needed!!

Emma Louise1001, 7 of November of 2010 at 13:18 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 12

Hi, my name is Emma and I am hoping to get married in September 2012.

We want to get married abroad and I cannot decide between Cyprus or Greece and would love to hear from anyone that is planning a wedding at either. I love the sound of Protaras, Phaphos and Limassol but I have never visited any of these places. I have been to Rhodes in Greece and liked it there.

I really want a travel company to organise eveything (including the holiday) for an informal wedding at a beautiful hotel, can anyone recommend a specific company as I am not very good at organising things & wanted someone to do it all for me!

I really like the look of the Olympic wedding brouchure but I have not heard of this travel company before. When I visited First choice they didn't seem that informative about wedding packages and really wasn't that interested... I think it may have been a little early to go visiting travel agents as I was told you cannot book or get any prices for a 2012 holiday/wedding until next year.

Anyway If anyone can offer any advice that would be fantastic!

Many Thanks

Emma ?

Hi Emma, congratulations! My advice to you is to sort out the legal paperwork as soon as possible. No matter where you get married (Greece or Cyprus), you will need documents such as your birth certificates translated and legalised before your trip. TLCUK is a company specialised in this type of service and they can take care of everything for you: www.tlcuk.biz

If you need any help, please shout! Smiley smile

    Hi Emma

I am getting amrried in Cyprus October 2011 at a place called Zucchini's in Paphos https://www.zucchiniweddings.com/article.php?id=70 the place is stunning and has really good reviews they will plan and do as much or as little as you want them to and the couple who run it are lovely and will do everything they can to make your day special they organise everything from your reception to hair, make up, transport, flowers, cakes etc etc the list is endless. I have never been to cyprus before but i am really looking forward to it and my wedding plans with zucchini have been going great. Zucchinis will also do weddings for as little or as many people as you like and the place is yours exclusivley for the day so you dont have to worry about other brides Smiley smile

We are staying at the first choice holiday viallage aliathon in paphos but decided we didnt want to get married here as it wasn't really what we wanted. I understand what you mean about travel agents being not very helpful on a larger scale travel agents deal with god knows how many weddings per year and i feel that they dont take into consideration that you want your special day to be just that "special" in every way it can be.

Good luck with your hunting and hope you find what your looking for.

Zucchinis also have a facebook group as well with lots of other pics Smiley smile

    Hi Emma, congratulations!

We are getting married in Paphos in June 2011. We have opted for a wedding on board a Yacht. This is the company we are using http://www.exclusiveyachtweddings.com/ they have lots of different packages available and reasonable prices. All you need to take is your dress and your rings. They sort everything for you. You would however have to organise your own accommodation, but there are loads of lovely hotels. We have opted for a private apartment on a complex and so have most of our guests, so we are all near each other.

I have been to Paphos 8 years running and love the place. There's is something for everything and it's always sunny and hot! Most of the hotels do weddings and packages but the ceremony is over looked. We chose the Yacht and its private and just for you and your wedding party.

Let me know if I can help, with anything you need to know about Paphos.

    regards
    Dinka

    Hi Emma.

We are getting married in Sept 2012 too ! We are getting married in Zante. We are using a great company called Ionian Weddings. They specialise in weddings in Greece. Have a look on their website and see what you think.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, i'm also thinking of getting married abroad September 2012 but going for Olu Deniz Turkey. I was told by First Choice you can book in April this year for next September 2012. They weren't that helpful either just basically told me to come back when the prices came out in April and u get discounts etc cos the prices have just came out. So i'm going to do that cos i can't wait to just get it all booked up! My cousin got married in Cyprus and she said it was fantastic totally stressfree, they went with Thomas Cook who kept them right with all their documents they needed. when they got there they met the wedding coordinator and picked out flowers etc and they arranged everything for them.

Hi Emma. Congratulations. I too am getting married next September in Tsilivi, Greece on the beach. I went to thomas cook and found they were not very helpful, plus you need several different brochures to organise everything, one for the destination and another to figure out what you want inckluded for your special day.

a friend of my mums put me in touch with a very lovely lady who works for travelcounsellors who will help sort out all the legal paperwork this end and organise the holiday. She also has a contact in greece, who will help us a few days before the wedding to do the paperwork needed over there, check the venue, flowers, food etc.

    Saves loads of hassle.

Hope that helps. Good luck ?

Wedding in Greece is better than Cyprus!

Greece has a large number of islands.
The Greek islands are a unique phenomenon in Europe. Greece counts 6.000 islands and islets scattered in the Aegean and Ionian Seas.
