Getting ready away from the venue

Bethan, 3 September, 2025 at 12:12 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi everyone,

I am getting married at Shotton Grange in Northumberland in 2026. The venue have confirmed that there is a wedding there the day before ours so we are unable to get into the Bridal Suite until 11:30, the morning of our wedding (ceremony is at 13:30).

I didn't realise it would be so tight for getting ready when we booked the venue. I only have my MOH, 1 Bridesmaid and my Mam who also need hair and make up done + myself however I know 2 hours absolutely wont be enough time for everyone.

I am just wondering if anyone else has gotten married/is planning on getting married at this venue and are in the same position? My thoughts are to book a nice hotel in Newcastle with a late check out but I really had my heart set on us all getting ready at the venue and getting the photos taken there, as the Bridal suite is so lovely. I'm just feeling a bit anxious now as the day seems a bit disjointed if we get ready elsewhere! We'll have to get ready (hope my photographer will come to the hotel + then the venue) and then put all of our normal clothes on, drive to the venue and put our nice matching robes back on for staged photos!

I know it's probably not a massive issue in the grand scheme of things but sometimes when you have a vision for something in your head and it isn't quite what you imagined, it can be a bit anxiety inducing!

Thanks everyone

Perfect Evening Out – A Venue & Menu to Remember

For a memorable evening, choosing the right venue and menu is essential. A cozy rooftop restaurant with ambient lighting and city views offers the perfect balance of elegance and relaxation. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner, a casual celebration, or a small gathering with friends, rooftops provide an intimate atmosphere with a touch of sophistication.

As for the menu, opt for a modern fusion style that caters to a variety of tastes. Start with light appetizers like bruschetta with tomato and basil or shrimp cocktail. For the main course, offer choices such as grilled salmon with lemon-dill sauce, truffle mushroom risotto, or a tender filet mignon served with garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. For vegetarian guests, a hearty Mediterranean vegetable couscous or a creamy butternut squash pasta makes an excellent choice.

To finish, a dessert trio of mini crème brûlée, chocolate lava cake, and fruit tart provides variety and indulgence. Pair the evening with a curated wine list or signature cocktails to complement each course.

The right venue paired with a thoughtful menu creates a lasting impression. Aim for quality, comfort, and flavor—and your guests will talk about the night long after it ends.
