Getting rings made smaller

It will depend on the exact design and the setting of the diamond AFAIK. Most jewellers should do it, I doubt its too difficult. Cost will depend on the jewellers but probably upwards of £15 (which is about what it cost to have mine made smaller nearly 4 years ago)

That was in a cheaper chain jewellers though (although they did it perfectly) another more expensive chain wouldnt do mine because of the setting

I have had my wedding & engagement rings changed so often it's ridiculous (about every other year). I had it done in the UK at Ernest Jones and it was about £30, but since then I've had it done in Dubai and they do it for free.

A lot of the UK chain jewellers will only go up / down by 1 size and say it's not possible to do a bigger difference than that. If you can get to the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter or Hatton Garden then they will be more willing to do bigger changes.

We've got an independant place near here who get a lot of business from me buying antique rings. It's usually between £10 and £13 for them to be made bigger or smaller.

If you know where they were bought from it might be worth going back to them. My engagement and wedding rings are both from SWAG and they will resize the rings at any point in the lifetime of the ring for free.

I recently had my engagement ring made 3 sizes smaller. It's a gold band with a diamond and it cost me £10 at a small local jewellers and I had it back in a week. A few high street jewellers I tried quoted £30+ and said it would take more than 3 weeks.

Ugh! right try this again....

i had 3 sizes removed from my engagement ring in a small local place, quoted 12.50 but paid a little more for same day change. i wouldn't use a chain as they are unlikely to have someone in house who can do the necessary.
