Giant garden games = anyone had them at their wedding?

annie2000, 14 January, 2012 at 18:01 Posted on Planning 0 13

I am thinking that some giant garden games would be good entertainment between end of ceremony and wedding breakfast for our guests, big and small and would make for some good photo op's. Has anyone had them at their wedding? how did they go down with your guests? (I already know my mother wont be impressed but hey ho), did many people join in?

    Hi Doris

There are some very reasonably priced ones on amazon, so I might buy. Am thinking of Archery, Giant Draughts and Giant Jenga, thats if our venue will allow it Smiley smile

    Hi,

We are having garden games, weather permistting! We will have giant jenga, giant chess, giant draughts, possibly connect 4, giant snakes and ladders, giant pick up stick, boules and croquet (I think thats all!) We have about 3 to 3 and a half hours between wedding breakfast and evening food, at which all the night guests are invited too, garden party was a key part of the day!

I guess the only thing to consider is that if you plan that as enterttainment, to have some indoor options incase it rains!!

We're thinking of doing this too as there will be 20-odd children at our wedding and there is a lovely flat grass area for them to play on. I'm also doing it as it works out cheaper than a bouncy castle!

I think that sounds like a brilliant idea! I might have a look on amazon. Please let me know if you find anything elsewhere.

We have got a giant connect 4 and am keeping an eye out for a large jenga, but a cheaper one as they can be really expensive!

My MOH had them at her wedding and it was great! They didn't need much, just Jenga, Noughts and Crosses and maybe one other that I can't remember. She was lucky in that the sun shone all day and it was warm, so perfect to be outdoors. She ahd her husband disappeared for about an hour and a half after the ceremony for some "couple time" (hmmmmmm) and having the games as well as drinks and nibbles meant they weren't really missed!

We are probably going to have them as our venue said they have the games already so all we have to do is ask them to put them out. OH originally didn't like idea but has come round to it now. We won't be in summer but it'll be something for the kids (and big kids) whilst we have photos etc done and isn't a 'forced' entertainment it's just there if you want to play
